FPT’s employees kicked off the COVID-19 Vaccination campaign in Ho Chi Minh City
On 19th June, 500 employees from FPT Software Company Limited at the Saigon Hi-tech Park were vaccinated. This is considered to be the beginning of the largest vaccination program to ever be launched in Ho Chi Minh City as well as nation-wide.

On 19th June, 500 employees from FPT Software Company Limited at the Saigon Hi-tech Park were vaccinated. This is considered to be the beginning of the largest vaccination program to ever be launched in Ho Chi Minh City as well as nation-wide.
In this campaign, Ho Chi Minh City is distributing 786.000 AstraZeneca vaccine doses. Those doses are a part of the Japanese vaccine support package to Vietnam with the total of 966.320 doses. The package was distributed priorly to Ho Chi Minh City to start the vaccination campaign with the majority group of citizens. This decision was situational-based, as there has been a burst of cases within the community since 18th May.
At the launching, the Deputy Prime Minister – Mr. Trương Hoà Bình claimed that the 4th wave of COVID-19 was much more challenging to handle, compared to previous ones.
“This wave of COVID-19 has been tremendously affected citizens’ health, daily life and total well-being. Therefore, with 786.000 doses of vaccines, Ho Chi Minh City must rush the progress of vaccination, prioritize blue-collared and manual labor to maintain continuity of production. This is the largest vaccination program to ever be launched city-wide, in only 7 days.” – Mr. Truong said.
According to him, this number of vaccines is enough for roughly 2/3 of the prioritized group with the total of 2.3 million people in the city. This group consists of citizen from industrial zone, production zone, enterprises with large workforce and the police & military force.
FPT Software employees got the first vaccine dose on 19th June
This mass vaccination campaign in the city’s Hi-tech Park is set as the priority by Thu Duc City’s Official Representatives to ultimately achieve both goals of preventing pandemic burst out and growing economy. This would ensure production is proceeded with no interruption or delay in supply chain, then to keep the pace of Ho Chi Minh City growth objectives.
From 7AM, 500 employees of FPT Software Ho Chi Minh City have gathered, filled the declaration of medical and lined up in the ground floor lobby strictly with the social distancing rules.
Mr. Pham Dang Khoi – one of the 500 employees that get vaccinated this time told us: “I think this vaccination program will be widely distributed to everyone, sooner or later, so I myself are not too worried. However, I have to go on many business trips, so this is very reassuring.”
Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, FPT’s CEO shared: “We sent our great appreciation to the Government, the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City who have enabled workers at the production and industrial zone to get vaccinated this soon. This vaccination campaign is going to contribute to achieving both goals of preventing pandemic burst out and growing economy. This would ensure production is proceeded with no interruption or delay in supply chain. We hope that all the hard work and effort to fight this pandemic’s hardship of the city’s authorities as well as citizens, Ho Chi Minh City will soon be able to control the situation, stabilize daily life and continue to grow social economy.”
With 768.000 doses supplied by the Government, Ho Chi Minh City will continue to distribute widely in the high population density areas – production and industrial zones. Faculties in these zones will be arranged to get two doses of the vaccine as soon as possible.
The Saigon Hi-tech Park is accounted for about 10% of the total GRDP of the city and FPT Software is one of the 101 businesses which is operating in the industrial zone. This is also a combination of 5 offices, Technology R&D centers, where large proportion of FPT’s production & development of final products, solution take place. Within 2020, FPT Software’s revenue was 513 million USD, take up 10% of the Vietnamese Software sector’s revenue.
