Japan's NHK TV recently aired a report focusing on Vietnam's semiconductor industry, featuring FPT as the leading enterprise in this growth wave.
As the semiconductor industry rapidly evolves, Vietnam is emerging as a critical investment hotspot and is poised to become a new global hub. Numerous large corporations have established research facilities in the country. However, alongside these opportunities, Vietnam faces challenges, particularly a shortage of skilled professionals in this sector.
To address this, the Vietnamese government and various companies have initiated a project aimed at developing semiconductor talent. FPT is at the forefront of this movement, targeting the training of 10,000 microchip personnel by 2030.
In the NHK report, Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of FPT, discussed FPT's semiconductor development strategy and Vietnam's potential in this sector. He highlighted several strengths that Vietnam possesses for cultivating talent in the semiconductor industry. Firstly, the country has a large pool of human resources capable of meeting the current high demand in the semiconductor market, with a growing interest in semiconductor studies. Secondly, Vietnamese youth exhibit a strong eagerness to learn and innovate, positioning themselves to seize emerging opportunities. Lastly, Mr. Binh noted that the Vietnamese population has a natural aptitude for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, making them well-suited for careers in the semiconductor field.

However, Mr. Binh emphasized that Vietnam needs help to achieve its semiconductor ambitions. At this crucial juncture, the country must engage in fast, robust, and comprehensive cooperation with leading semiconductor nations and companies, including Japan and Korea. This collaboration is essential for leveraging human resources and establishing Vietnam's position in the semiconductor industry.
FPT Corporation identifies the semiconductor sector as one of its five key pillars for the future.
To address the labor shortage in this field, FPT plans to actively contribute to developing semiconductor talent by sending Vietnamese students to study in advanced countries and supplying high-quality professionals to markets like Japan and Taiwan.
Currently, FPT is among the few organizations in Vietnam offering a comprehensive semiconductor training system at university, college, and international levels, including long-term, medium-term, and short-term programs. The company collaborates with nearly 20 international partners and is developing a model to send students abroad for work experience. In terms of production, FPT aims to create next-generation "super" chips, including those integrated with AI technology. Soon, FPT plans to establish an AI factory in Japan. In the report with NHK, Chairman Truong Gia Binh expressed his hope that Vietnam will significantly advance in AI, incorporating it into chips to attract foreign companies to the country.
