Dao Duy Thai, an IT student, secured a job offer with a nearly 3,000 USD salary from a Taiwanese semiconductor company despite having yet to graduate.
The student built a solid professional foundation, achieved significant extracurricular accomplishments, and earned an IELTS 8.0 certificate. Notably, his fluent foreign language skills played a key role in securing a well-paying position at a multinational semiconductor company.
Duy Thai previously completed an internship at a multinational company, working in a 100% English environment focused on MES production management systems and ERP enterprise resource planning systems for factories. Following this experience, he accepted a job offer as a semiconductor engineer at Micron Technology in Taiwan.
According to Duy Thai, IT students often hesitate to learn foreign languages, focusing primarily on numbers and logic. However, he emphasizes that "with dedication and a bit of know-how, having a foreign language degree can significantly enhance job opportunities in the IT industry."

Dao Duy Thai believes that proficiency in programming and foreign languages go hand in hand due to their reliance on logic. He asserts that to excel in programming, students need strong foreign language skills to access and understand technical materials and lectures. Similarly, individuals with robust IT data processing abilities often find that these skills translate into practical reading, listening, and writing in foreign language exams.
With a strong mindset, Duy Thai quickly achieved an IELTS 8.0 score after enrolling in the IT department at FPT University. His success was supported by the specialized program, which uses a 100% English curriculum.
In addition, Duy Thai actively engaged in extracurricular activities to enhance his English proficiency. He served as the Head of the English Club at FPT University Hanoi, where he organized numerous training programs focused on English knowledge and skills for students.
Duy Thai also took on the role of the English host at the national semi-finals of the FPT Edu NihongoEng 2023 contest and engaged in dialogues with notable figures such as United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and Vietnamese youth. At these events, he used English adeptly for academic discussions and interactions with international peers.
This experience not only enriched his vocabulary but also made arguing and communicating in English a natural part of his life. Additionally, his extracurricular activities expanded his network, creating valuable career opportunities.
"I am grateful for the diverse experiences at FPT University, which have allowed me to refine my academic expertise and become a well-rounded, experienced individual," he said.
In addition to preparing for his upcoming role in Taiwan, Thai is actively sharing effective learning strategies on social media platforms. The primary audience is FPT's students. He emphasizes that leveraging the university's learning environment can be pivotal in securing excellent job opportunities.
