FPT Cloud, the cloud computing platform of FPT Smart Cloud, FPT Corporation, has announced the launch of Thu Duc Zone, the second FPT Cloud infrastructure zone in Ho Chi Minh City and the fourth in Vietnam. Built on the open-source OpenStack platform, the new zone is operated and managed down to the core technology layer by Vietnamese engineers. The expansion provides businesses with additional computing and storage resources, as well as more options for domestic data backup and disaster recovery.
FPT Cloud, the cloud computing platform of FPT Smart Cloud, FPT Corporation, has announced the launch of Thu Duc Zone. In cloud computing, a zone refers to an independent infrastructure environment comprising server, storage, and network resources. Located at the FPT Fornix HCM02 Data Center in Saigon Hi-Tech Park, Ho Chi Minh City, Thu Duc Zone enables businesses to deploy applications closer to their operations, scale resources, optimize latency, and establish domestic data backup and disaster recovery solutions.
With this expansion, FPT Cloud’s infrastructure now comprises 5,000 physical servers, supports hundreds of thousands of virtual machines, and provides hundreds of petabytes (PB) of storage capacity. The platform supports a wide range of storage options, from Block and Object Storage to High-Performance Storage, and is equipped to handle diverse workloads, including core business systems, Big Data, and complex AI applications.
FPT Cloud currently meets Level 4 information system security requirements, as assessed and approved by the Ministry of Public Security under Document No. 3810/BCA-A05.
Thu Duc Zone began providing services on April 13, 2026. The zone is built on the open-source OpenStack platform, which FPT Cloud engineers operate, customize, and manage down to the core technology layer.
Expanding Domestic Deployment and Disaster Recovery Capabilities
Thu Duc Zone is equipped entirely with 2026-generation hardware to deliver high processing performance for enterprise applications. The computing infrastructure uses sixth-generation Intel and fifth-generation AMD processors to ensure stable performance, optimize software licensing costs, and support the smooth operation of core business systems such as ERP and Core Banking.
The storage infrastructure has fully transitioned from traditional SAS SSD technology to next-generation NVMe, reducing database access and real-time transaction processing times by up to 60%.
A key feature of the Thu Duc Zone expansion is the connectivity between FPT Cloud’s infrastructure zones in Ho Chi Minh City. Inter-zone connections between data centers in the city provide a total bandwidth of 400 Gbps with a round-trip latency of 3 milliseconds.
The network is deployed across four fully independent parallel fiber-optic routes provided by two separate telecommunications operators. Even in the event of a widespread outage affecting one provider or a fiber-optic cable failure, the remaining routes can maintain continuous connectivity. This enables businesses to build multi-zone architectures and synchronize data in near real time within Ho Chi Minh City.
For disaster recovery, FPT Cloud maintains an intercity connection between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with a total capacity of 80 Gbps. Businesses can deploy primary systems in one city and backup systems in the other, establishing the geographic separation needed for disaster recovery planning.
In Ho Chi Minh City, FPT Cloud also provides a total Internet connectivity bandwidth of 100 Gbps across multiple network operators. For services and data hosted domestically, this local connectivity helps businesses reduce the impact of disruptions to international Internet connections.
Expanding Storage Services and AI Processing Capabilities
With GPU-powered virtual machine infrastructure at Thu Duc Zone, businesses can deploy AI inference, machine learning, and Big Data workloads under a pay-as-you-go model. This enables organizations to scale computing resources as demand arises without bearing the costs of purchasing and maintaining dedicated GPU infrastructure.
Alongside the official launch, FPT Cloud is implementing a roadmap to expand specialized services on Thu Duc Zone throughout 2026.
In addition to the already available FPT Object Storage Dedicated, which provides dedicated object storage tailored to individual business requirements, the zone will introduce FPT High Performance Storage for AI and upgrade virtual machines to support IPv6 Compute, enabling businesses to scale network resources with greater flexibility.
