FPT Schools Inaugurates a “School in a Garden”

The event opened with a performance combining a traditional five-tone orchestra, a distinctive cultural heritage of the Khmer community in Southern Vietnam, with the song “FPT – The River of Oaths.” The performance created a meeting point between Soc Trang’s cultural identity and FPT’s spirit of shaping the future.

At the heart of the ceremony was the “Opening the Flow of Knowledge” ritual, inspired by the Maspero River, an iconic image associated with Soc Trang. The ritual symbolized the beginning of a new flow of knowledge, technology, and opportunity, accompanying local students as they discover their potential and shape their future.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Le Truong Tung, Chairman of the University Council of FPT University, said: “FPT School Soc Trang officially begins its journey with modern, newly built facilities, where we hope every day at school will be a joyful one for our students. As part of the nationwide FPT Schools network, students will have opportunities to interact and connect with their peers and gain access to a broader horizon for personal development. We hope the school will inspire dreams, a lifelong passion for learning, and pride in their local heritage. From this school, students will carry with them knowledge and technology, giving them the confidence to step out into the world and build their future.”

In implementing Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW, Can Tho aims to become an education and training hub for the Mekong Delta. Under its priorities for the 2026–2027 academic year, the city is focusing on universal preschool education for children aged three to five, strengthening foreign-language teaching and learning, expanding STEM/STEAM education, digital skills, physical education, arts, and life skills, while prioritizing resources for educational facilities and teaching equipment. The city also considers the development of high-quality science and technology talent a key priority in strengthening its internal capabilities.

Against this backdrop, FPT School Soc Trang is expected to provide an additional high-quality education option aligned with the city’s educational development priorities, creating an environment where students can gain early exposure to technology, foreign languages, science, and essential future-ready skills.

Representing Can Tho City’s leadership, Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi, Vice Chairman of the Can Tho People’s Committee, said: “The participation of modern private schools such as FPT Schools provides a valuable opportunity to ease pressure on the public education system. The city considers this a strategic solution to provide parents with more high-quality education choices while supporting local development. We expect FPT Schools to continue leveraging its strengths in facilities and education, and to accelerate efforts to make English a second language in schools, thereby developing high-quality talent capable of reaching beyond the region.”

FPT School Soc Trang is FPT’s third major education facility in the southwestern region of Vietnam, following its campuses in the former Can Tho and Hau Giang. Built on a site of nearly 15,700 square meters, the school comprises buildings of up to four stories, with a total floor area of approximately 17,800 square meters and capacity for around 2,160 students.

The school’s design draws inspiration from the concept of a “School in a Garden,” with U-shaped buildings surrounding a central courtyard. A highlight of the campus is the “Joyful Empowerment” sculpture, symbolizing joy, confidence, and students’ ability to take ownership of their future.

The school is equipped with classrooms and experiential learning spaces designed around modern educational approaches, including F-Lab, STEM, AI and Robotics facilities, dedicated Physics and Chemistry laboratories, Music and Art rooms, and a multi-purpose sports area.

These spaces are designed not only for students to acquire knowledge but also to practice, create, solve problems, and develop their individual capabilities, in line with FPT Schools’ philosophy of “Experience to Grow.”

FPT School Soc Trang Launches Pre-Primary Program for Children Aged 5–6

As part of the inauguration ceremony, FPT School Soc Trang also announced the launch of an education program for 5–6-year-old kindergarten children beginning in the 2026–2027 academic year. It is the first campus in the FPT Schools network to introduce the program, extending the educational journey at FPT School Soc Trang from the final year of kindergarten through Grade 12.

The program is built on Vietnam’s national Early Childhood Education Curriculum and the Development Standards for Five-Year-Old Children issued by the Ministry of Education and Training. It also incorporates the distinctive educational approach of FPT Schools, with the goal of developing a high-quality preschool model.

Speaking about the program, Mr. Tran Thanh Danh, Executive Director of FPT School Soc Trang, said: “The program is designed around a child-centered approach, with children learning through play and experience. It ensures an appropriate balance between purposeful learning activities and age-appropriate play. Importantly, the program strictly follows the principle of not teaching the Grade 1 curriculum in advance. Instead, it focuses on building a strong foundation and supporting children’s holistic development across physical, emotional, linguistic, cognitive, and aesthetic dimensions, while helping them establish positive routines and develop readiness for formal learning.”

FPT Schools’ Pre-Primary Program is structured around three distinctive pillars: International-standard English, Smart World Experience (SMART), and Personal Development Program (PDP). Each pillar has its own activity framework, dedicated learning time, and assessment tools.

English is delivered through the K+ Start from Zero pathway, using Oxford Toy Team learning materials published by Oxford University Press for preschool-aged children, with a total of 105 sessions per year.

Under the SMART pillar, children are introduced to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) as well as computational thinking through exploratory activities, projects, and problem-solving exercises. The program introduces foundational digital competencies, including observation and information gathering, digital content creation, awareness of digital safety principles, and problem-solving skills.

The Personal Development pillar covers 21st-century skills, happiness education and holistic well-being, as well as Vovinam. It aims to support healthy development, build life skills, independence and confidence, improve physical fitness, and equip children with basic safety, emergency response, and survival skills.

The introduction of the Pre-Primary Program at FPT School Soc Trang therefore not only broadens the age range served by the school but also establishes a continuous learning pathway, helping children build the mindset and skills they need to be ready for primary education.

The inauguration of FPT School Soc Trang also marks the beginning of a new academic-year journey for the school. Within this learning environment, students will have greater opportunities to develop technological capabilities, creative thinking, foreign-language proficiency, and 21st-century skills, while building confidence, adaptability, and a global mindset.

These capabilities will also provide an important foundation for developing a new generation of talent equipped to meet the evolving development needs of Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta region.
