While many of the world’s major technology companies are restructuring their workforces, with AI increasingly cited as one of the factors behind these changes, FPT continues to expand its technology talent pool. As of the end of July 2026, FPT’s technology workforce reached 37,002 employees, up nearly 4% from the end of 2025.
The year 2026 continues to see major workforce restructuring across global technology companies, with AI playing an increasingly prominent role in decisions to reorganize resources. Against this backdrop, FPT’s technology workforce grew from 35,638 employees at the end of 2025 to 37,002 by the end of July 2026.
Among companies undergoing AI-related workforce reductions, Oracle cut approximately 21,000 positions, equivalent to 13% of its workforce, during fiscal year 2026. The company said its restructuring was driven by multiple factors, including the adoption of AI in its operations. Software company Atlassian also announced plans to cut approximately 1,600 positions, or 10% of its workforce, as it reallocates resources toward AI and enterprise sales.
While some corporations are reducing headcount, others continue to expand their workforces. As of June 2026, Alphabet, Google’s parent company, had added nearly 12,000 employees over the previous year, bringing its total workforce to almost 199,000. These developments illustrate how, as AI becomes an investment priority, companies may reduce certain roles while simultaneously hiring more people in areas where their businesses are expanding.
AI Market Continues to Expand
According to Gartner, global IT services spending is forecast to grow at an average annual rate of approximately 8.5% through 2030. Spending on AI services alone is projected to reach approximately USD 1.26 trillion by 2030, representing an average annual growth rate of 23.6%.
One reason behind this growth is AI’s ability to broaden the range of work that businesses can undertake. According to Mr. Nguyen The Phuong, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of FPT Corporation, demand is being driven by areas ranging from AI infrastructure, AI agents, data, cybersecurity and AI governance to the redesign of operational processes.
AI is also making projects feasible that were previously difficult or impractical to undertake. Mr. Pham Minh Tuan, Executive Vice President of FPT Corporation and Chief Executive Officer of FPT Software, cited the modernization of technology systems built 30 to 40 years ago as an example.
Such systems may contain hundreds of millions of lines of source code. If handled primarily through manual effort, understanding and transforming this volume of code could require several thousand employees and take around a decade. With AI assistance, the implementation timeline could potentially be shortened to approximately three years. This, in turn, gives customers greater confidence in moving forward with projects and signing contracts with FPT.
Market demand is also reflected in FPT’s business performance. In the first seven months of 2026, the Corporation recorded VND 30.784 trillion in revenue and VND 6.659 trillion in profit before tax, representing year-on-year increases of 13.6% and 18.3%, respectively.
The Technology sector contributed VND 27.298 trillion in revenue, up 16%. Notably, Digital Transformation revenue reached VND 11.127 trillion, an increase of 20.8%, while revenue from AI/Data Analytics services surged 54%, the highest growth rate among the service segments reported.
According to data provided by FPT, as of July 31, 2026, the total workforce across the Corporation’s ecosystem, comprising seven subsidiaries and four affiliated companies, reached 88,553 employees. This represented an increase of 2,562 employees, or 2.98%, compared with the end of 2025.
Excluding the four affiliated companies, FPT’s workforce stood at 44,388 employees as of June 30, 2026, according to its financial statements. At the end of 2025, the corresponding figure was 54,110 employees, prior to the change in the accounting treatment of FPT Telecom.
