At Agentic AI Build Week 2026, one of Southeast Asia’s largest AI application development competitions, students from FPT University earned multiple awards. In particular, OneTeam secured Top 1 and Top 5 finishes in two categories, standing out for its ability to bridge advanced AI technology with real-world applications.

Agentic AI Build Week 2026 brought together more than 3,000 AI builders, over 400 projects, and more than 70 international experts and judges. Organized by GenAI Fund, the competition aims to connect highly skilled technology talent with real-world market challenges while providing technology infrastructure ready for practical deployment. The event was supported by leading global technology companies including Amazon Web Services (AWS), OpenAI, NVIDIA, Tencent Cloud, and Google.

FPT University students competed across five teams and achieved a series of impressive results, including Top 1, Top 2, Top 6, and Top 10 in the AWS Track, as well as a Judges’ Choice Award. Their Agentic AI solutions addressed a diverse range of real-world challenges across F&B, finance, operations, and communications.

Competing against more than 3,000 participants from 50 countries, OneTeam—including two FPT University students, Bui Minh Viet, a K18 Software Engineering student, and Nguyen Van Anh Duy, a K18 Artificial Intelligence student, along with other team members—made a strong impression by securing Top 1 in the Built with AWS category and Top 5 in the F&B Track.

OneTeam stood out with its project, “AWS-Powered Agentic Ordering for KFC Vietnam,” featuring KFCBot, an AI assistant that enables customers to search for menu items, select products, and place KFC orders directly through Zalo and WhatsApp without switching to another application.

Built on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore and integrated with AWS AI and cloud services, the solution can process the entire ordering workflow in just three to five seconds. The project was highly rated for its effective combination of AI technology and real-world applicability.

Reflecting on the competition, Bui Minh Viet said that studying Software Engineering had given him numerous opportunities to explore AI and learn how to integrate it into different stages of product development. “The Harness program helped me understand the entire process, from developing an idea and analyzing requirements to designing and completing a product. That gave me greater confidence to experiment with new technologies and turn ideas into practical solutions,” Viet shared.

For Nguyen Van Anh Duy, the experience was particularly memorable as it was his first hackathon. He recalled staying up almost all night in the final hours before submission, continuously optimizing the system architecture and resolving technical issues. “This was the first hackathon I had ever participated in, so when OneTeam was announced as the Top 1 winner, I was overwhelmed with excitement. What I value most from the competition is the opportunity to learn, connect with new people, and work alongside team members from diverse backgrounds,” Duy said.

In addition to Viet and Duy’s Top 1 finish in the Built with AWS category, other FPT University student teams also achieved strong results at Agentic AI Build Week 2026, including Top 2 Runner-Up in the AWS Track, Judges’ Choice – Built with AWS Track, Top 6 AWS Track, and Top 10 AWS Track.
