FPT showcases semiconductor ecosystem at SEMIExpo Vietnam 2024

At the Vietnam Semiconductor Industry Exhibition 2024 (SEMIExpo Vietnam 2024), FPT Corporation showcased its semiconductor ecosystem under the theme "Vietnam - The Rising Star." The booth was visited by the Minister of Planning and Investment, Nguyen Chi Dung.

FPT-chip-inside ecosystem

During the event, Mr. Nguyen Vinh Quang, CEO of FPT Semiconductor, presented the FPT-chip-inside semiconductor ecosystem to the delegation led by Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung. Mr. Quang highlighted the crucial role of chips in modern technology, serving as the foundation for a wide range of electronic devices, including smartphones, computers, household appliances, and medical equipment. He emphasized the importance of the PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuit), which acts as the "heart" of these devices, managing and optimizing energy usage to ensure high performance and energy efficiency.

With this ecosystem, FPT not only provides advanced technology solutions but also contributes to the development of global technology and economy. Looking ahead, FPT's semiconductor solutions will continue to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Vietnam's semiconductor industry.

At the exhibition, FPT also introduced the FPT Jetking International Semiconductor Design Training system, along with Vietnam's first international semiconductor design training program. Developed by FPT Education in collaboration with Jetking, an academy with 77 years of experience in India, this program trains students from basic to advanced levels in semiconductor design. Graduates earn a globally recognized Higher Diploma in Chip Designing (HDICD).

Additionally, FPT introduced a Semiconductor Technology major at BTEC FPT UK College, a 2-year, 6-semester program designed to equip students with the necessary semiconductor knowledge to thrive in a multinational environment.

FPT expert shares about semiconductor chip design

At the Business Connection Forum on IC design, packaging, and testing, part of the SEMI EXPO event series, Mr. Nguyen Vinh Quang, CEO of FPT Semiconductor, shared insights into FPT's journey in semiconductor chip design.

Mr. Quang explained that FPT's decision to focus initially on the PMIC and Power IC product lines was rooted in a more profound vision. He revealed that FPT's entry into the semiconductor industry was the fulfillment of a dream his father had, a vision that Vietnam had nurtured since 1979 with the Z181 factory, also known as the "Vietnam Semiconductor Factory." This pioneering facility was the first of its kind in Vietnam, equipped with a synchronous production line and advanced technology from Japan and Western Europe. It manufactures semiconductor components, including transistors, diodes, thyristors, and sensors.

Vietnam's semiconductor industry is poised for significant growth, especially with the anticipated rollout of 5G technology in 2025 and the rapid Internet of Things (IoT) expansion. These developments provide a strong foundation for FPT Semiconductor to accelerate its research and development of chip products.

From 2023 to 2028, FPT Semiconductor will continue advancing its PMIC product lines, including Luxury PMIC, Standard PMIC, AC-DC Converters, SW Chargers, Buck-Boost, HV Buck Converters, Buck Converters, Linear Chargers, LDOs, and LED Drivers. By 2030, FPT aims to employ 10,000 people in the semiconductor sector, with a focus on critical products like PMIC and AI chips, reinforcing its leadership role in Vietnam's semiconductor industry.
