Hanoi, September 19, 2026 – FPT University (FPTU), FPT Corporation, and the Quantum AI & Cyber Security Institute (QACI) have announced a partnership to develop human resources, advance research, and strengthen capabilities in strategic technologies. By 2041, the three parties aim to train 30,000 technology professionals and 100 PhDs, while developing at least 150 commercialized products, including three products targeting international markets.
The trilateral partnership between FPTU, FPT, and QACI comes as Vietnam accelerates the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, as well as Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training. Developing high-quality human resources, strengthening connections among research, application, and education, and enhancing capabilities in strategic technologies are among the key priorities for the new development phase.
Six Strategic Areas of Cooperation Through 2041
Under the partnership, by 2041, the three parties aim to train 30,000 engineers in strategic technology fields such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, cybersecurity, quantum technology, UAVs, and high-speed rail, while developing at least 100 PhDs in strategic technologies, with priority given to employees, faculty members, and researchers within the FPT ecosystem.
In research, the parties aim to produce 1,500 scientific works and intellectual property assets related to strategic technologies, including at least 300 patents or intellectual property assets with application potential. In product development, the parties will focus on mastering and developing products within Vietnam’s strategic technology portfolio, aligned with FPT’s capabilities and Vietnam’s development priorities. By 2041, the partnership aims to commercialize at least 150 products, including three products with international market presence.
The remaining two areas of cooperation include contributing to FPT’s goal of incubating 1,000 AI startups, while improving the research and product development productivity of learners through the application of AI, digital technologies, and innovative training methods.
These targets represent long-term directions through 2041 and will be implemented in phases through training, research, technology transfer, and product incubation programs tailored to the capabilities of each party. The approach connects human resource development with research and the creation of tangible technology outcomes, rather than treating education, research, and application as separate activities.
Connecting University – Research Institute – Enterprise
Under the partnership, FPTU will develop human resources, research and innovation capabilities, and a talent pipeline for strategic technology fields. FPT Corporation will contribute infrastructure, experts, and testing environments; provide real-world challenges based on business and market needs; and create opportunities for FPTU students to participate in internships and projects and access employment opportunities. QACI will contribute advanced research capabilities.
For FPTU and students, resources from the research institute and businesses will expand opportunities to learn, conduct research, solve real-world problems, and develop products. For the research institute, the partnership creates stronger connections between research directions, young talent, and practical challenges, while expanding opportunities to test and apply research outcomes. For businesses, the model provides access to talent trained through practical experience while connecting technology needs with research and product development.
For society, the model aims to expand the pool of high-quality technology professionals, accelerate the application of research outcomes, and strengthen the ability to create technology products that address real-world needs. Through these efforts, the partnership is expected to contribute to Vietnam’s innovation capabilities and strengthen the country’s ability to master strategic technologies.
Dr. Le Truong Tung, Chairman of the University Council of FPT University, shared:
“By 2041, there will be many technologies and jobs that do not yet exist today. Therefore, the role of a university is not simply to transfer existing knowledge, but to equip learners with the capabilities to enter new fields, solve new problems, and participate in creating new technologies. To achieve this, higher education needs to be closely connected with research and real-world practice. At FPT University, we have chosen to expand the educational environment in this direction, so that learners are not only prepared for today’s jobs but are also able to adapt, innovate, and create value in a constantly changing future.”
Representing the research institute, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Phong, Director of QACI, said:
“For QACI, this partnership goes beyond participating in education. It enables students, faculty members, and young researchers to engage directly with complex challenges in strategic technologies. We expect QACI to serve as a bridge between fundamental research and real-world application needs, thereby identifying and nurturing the next generation of researchers while advancing promising outcomes into scientific publications, intellectual property assets, and technology solutions. The ultimate goal is to build sustainable capabilities to master core technologies, rather than stopping at adopting or applying existing technologies.”
A representative of FPT Corporation’s leadership shared:
“In line with the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, FPT has made a strategic decision to strengthen long-term investment in core technologies, with the goal of mastering knowledge and technology and creating products and solutions with practical value. Through this partnership, FPT will bring real-world challenges from businesses and markets into education and research, while contributing experts, infrastructure, and testing environments so that research outcomes can be validated and move toward practical application. Through these efforts, FPT, together with FPTU and QACI, will contribute to developing high-quality human resources, advancing research, and gradually strengthening Vietnam’s capabilities in strategic technologies.”
From Learning Technology to Demonstrating Capabilities
For FPTU students, the partnership expands opportunities to explore fields such as AI, semiconductors, cybersecurity, and quantum technology; join research teams alongside QACI experts; address real-world business challenges; and develop technology prototypes and products during their studies.
Building on FPTU’s enterprise-linked education model through On-the-Job Training (OJT), students will have more opportunities to connect learning experiences with technology research and development. Promising outcomes may be further developed into intellectual property assets, products, or startup projects. Students pursuing advanced research will also have opportunities to be identified and supported early, with pathways to doctoral programs in Vietnam and overseas.
Through this approach, learners will not only be able to answer what they have learned, but also progressively demonstrate what they can do through the problems they have solved, research they have participated in, prototypes or products they have developed, and ideas they have tested. These tangible outcomes will serve as evidence of the capabilities developed throughout their studies at FPTU.
The partnership with FPT and QACI expands opportunities for FPTU to connect education with research and real-world technology applications. Through this model, FPT University aims to develop learners who can transform knowledge into capabilities and tangible outcomes, while contributing high-quality talent to Vietnam’s strategic technology sectors.
