Through the “Sun of Hope” project, Hope Foundation has mobilized resources from across society, bringing community support to more than 3,300 children battling life-threatening illnesses.
Since 2021, Sun of Hope has served as a bridge connecting organizations, businesses, and benefactors with disadvantaged children undergoing treatment at hospitals across Vietnam. To date, more than 3,300 children at over 20 hospitals have received support through the program, with total funding exceeding VND 15 billion. At Children’s Hospital 2 in Ho Chi Minh City alone, nearly 700 pediatric patients have received approximately VND 3 billion in support.

Each visit is a reminder that even a small contribution can become a source of encouragement for medical teams working tirelessly every day, for parents supporting their children, and especially for young patients on the journey to overcome illness.
According to Ms. Thanh, the value of this support goes beyond financial assistance. It also lies in spreading the spirit of compassion and connecting resources with those who need them. With the support of FPT and VnExpress, Hope Foundation has been able to connect many individuals and organizations willing to contribute and aims to further strengthen the role as a bridge between social resources and people in need.
“This support is not only about financial resources. It also tells us that kindness can spread. Only when there are many kind people can we build a compassionate and caring society. That is the deeper purpose of Hope Foundation,” Ms. Thanh said.
She affirmed that Hope Foundation will continue supporting Children’s Hospital 2 within the Foundation’s capacity, helping medical teams, families, and young patients throughout the treatment journey.

Photo: Tran QuynhOn September 11, Hope Foundation and partners continued mobilizing resources, providing VND 300 million in financial assistance to eight children undergoing treatment at Children’s Hospital 2, along with 160 gifts for young patients at the Department of Hematology and Oncology.
Behind these figures are families facing long and difficult treatment journeys. Ly Hoang Hung, a nine-year-old boy from Khanh Hoa, is one of them. Hung was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in July. After three rounds of chemotherapy, Hung’s weight dropped from 25 kg to 20 kg. The treatment caused hair loss and mouth sores, forcing Hung to temporarily put school on hold.
Back home, Hung’s 16-year-old brother has lived with cerebral palsy since childhood, is bedridden, and requires constant care. With Hung’s mother staying at the hospital for extended periods, the children’s father, a farmer who also takes on temporary jobs to support the family, has had to stop working to care for the older son.
In these circumstances, the support mobilized by Hope Foundation and partner organizations has helped ease part of the family’s treatment expenses. Ms. Ai Hanh, Hung’s mother, said the timely assistance has helped relieve both the financial and emotional burden on the family, giving them greater strength to continue Hung’s treatment.

Dung was diagnosed with end-stage chronic kidney disease at the age of 12 after fainting at school. Dung now requires regular dialysis, while the expected kidney donor is Dung’s mother.
The cost of ongoing treatment and the upcoming transplant represents a significant burden for the family. The support mobilized at this critical time therefore not only helps ease financial pressure but also gives Dung and the family greater confidence as they prepare for an important stage of treatment.
More than 3,300 children supported over the past five years represents the collective contribution of many organizations, businesses, and individuals. Throughout this journey, Hope Foundation has served as a bridge, helping ensure that support from businesses, organizations, and the wider community reaches those who need it most.
Every new contribution means another family has someone to share the burden and another child has greater strength to continue the fight against a life-threatening illness.
