Due to the risks posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the convention had to impose a limit to the number of on-site attendees at the venues of Intercontinental Hanoi Landmark72 (Ha Noi) and the Quang Trung Software Park (TP HCM).

After internal discussions, the Board of Operations of the first VINASA V convention had nominated several members to take up the key positions in its structure. Notably, Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, CEO of FPT Corp., was entrusted with the position of Chairman, and the association also named 8 of the new Deputy Chair persons. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam expressed his wish for the new generation of VINASA’s Board of Operations

In his opening speech, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam argued that, with a rejuvenated Board of Operations and the participation of young business people from the top IT firms in Vietnam, the VINASA V convention had “completed their generational take-over flawlessly”. The Deputy PM expressed his wish for the new generation of VINASA’s Board of Operations to place strong emphasis on gathering up exceptional figures of both national and international IT scenes for consultation and planning of new policies for the Government in the coming future.

Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam declared this to be the point for the IT industry to regain its mission as the pioneer in innovations, in order to properly seize the opportunities created by the Fourth industrial revolution. In this matter, VINASA would be responsible for kick starting the national digital transformation process. Aside from reaching out to international markets, the subsidiary corporations should look to the masses to resolve more practical issues, facilitate digital transformations, and utilize IT and communications to bring about a significant and positive change in society.

Also at the convention, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, the Minister of Information and Communications, noted how much the Vietnamese software and services community had grown. "We have the rights to be proud of their contributions to this nation. 20 years ago, when VINASA was originally established, former Chairman Truong Gia Binh was 45 years old. Today he passed his torch onto another 45-year-old successor who will lead us forward", the Minister declared. "That torch is unchanging, for it is the desire to bring about national prosperity and achieve global leadership through technology, and the spirit of pioneering through innovation. But, it will have a new destiny, a digitally-transformed destiny, Make in Viet Nam, to one day turn it into a digital nation...".
