Bui Quang Ngoc to be the new CEO of FPT

Explaining the reason for the appointment, FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh said: “ The assignment of the new CEO aims to separate the roles of Chairman of the Board and the CEO to comply with modern managerial standards and improve the company’s performance. The Board of Directors chose Bui Quang Ngoc to be the new CEO for his thorough understanding of the group and exceptional talent in corporate governance ”.

“My understanding about FPT and my experiences gained during fifteen years operating and managing the group as its Executive Vice President will facilitate my new role. I do believe that the mutual understandings, the vision, the strategies and ambitions shared between Chairman Binh and I will help us optimize the management of FPT” the newly- appointed CEO, Bui Quang Ngoc, said confidently.

Being one of the founders of FPT Corporation, Bui Quang Ngoc was the first leader of the IT Application Division of FPT, which later formed a number of key subsidiaries such as FPT Information System, FPT Software, FPT Telecom, and FPT Trading. He is considered an outstanding leader of FPT, keeping pioneer role in modernizing the company’s governance system. He has intensive experience in managing large and complicated projects involving various resources of the Group.

For the past twenty years, he has been keeping senior positions including Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors (2002 – current), Chief Quality Officer, CIO, and COO of the Group (from 1995 to 2009). Therefore, he has special understanding on the model and characteristics of every single B2B, B2C, and B2G business model practiced by FPT.

Ngoc is an outstanding management executive of FPT. He initiated and has been keeping pioneer role in modernizing FPT’s governance system. He took full responsibility to build up the corporate quality assurance system from ISO standard (for customer-oriented businesses) to a comprehensive internal governance system for FPT (for investors, employees, and leader). He also participated in the development of the FPT’s information system, computerizing the company’s financial management, designing the corporate governance architecture and member companies in accordance with international standard, promoting globalization and applying Balanced Score Card (BSC) methodology in strategy management.

Additionally, he is responsible for managing complicated projects that require various resources from the group such as the one to unify FPT group in the entire country (North-South 2002); the equitization of FPT in 2002); and the restructure of three members namely FPT Information System (FPT IS), FPT Software, and FPT Trading in 2011.

The reputation of the new CEO has outreached FPT to the IT industry by his winning title as one of the Top 10 CIO of the Indochina. He has established and well maintained close relationship with strategic clients of FPT ranging from ministries to large enterprises, directly leading a large number of national IT projects in FPT.

Mr. Ngoc is also known by FPT people as an enthusiastic fan of football. He used to be the President of FPT Football Federation (FFF) for many years.

Mr. Ngoc was a classmate of Mr. Binh at the Mathematics high school of the National University in Vietnam. He obtained undergraduate degree on Mathematics from Kishinhov University, the Republic of Moldova in 1979 and doctorate degree in Database from Grenoble University in France in 1986.
