Over 250 foreign delegates and senior Sri Lankan government officials and business leaders were expected to attend the Summit this year.

The Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) summit was held at the Hilton Hotel, Colombo, Sri Lanka. The programe, lasting from the 14th to 17th day of November, included ASOCIO’s Board Meetings and General Assembly, business matching and conferences focusing on technology and business trends.
ASOCIO 2012, with the theme “Borderless ICT”, aims to promote growth of the IT industry in the region in the coming decade.
The delegates would discuss solutions to problems relating to information security, demand sizing, mobility and broad-band; cloud computing and suitable business policies by Sri Lanka.
In parallel with the summit, the IT Exhibition- INFOTEL 2012 was also organized in Sri Lanka from 16 to 19 November.
ASOCIO is the largest and the most prestigiuos international IT alliance of the Asia- Oceania region. It was founded in 1984 with the objective to promote and encourage relationships and trade between its members and to develop the computing industry in the region.
At the ASOCIO summit in November 2011 in Indonesia, Mr. Truong Gia Binh, who was the Chairman of Vietnam Software Association (VINASA) was re-elected to be Vice President of ASOCIO, where he was elected for the same position in the prior year.
Presently, ASOCIO represents the interest of 29 economies, comprising 22 members from Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Chinese Taipei, Hong kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Maccau, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam and seven guest members from USA, UK, Canada, Spain, Russia, France and Kenya.
Today ASOCIO’s members account for more than 10,000 ICT companies in the region.
