Earning release: FPT earned VND 1,277 billion of pretax profit in six months

After six months, FPT earned a total revenue of VND 12,482 billion, increasing 9% compared to the same period last year, completing 108% and 46% of plan for six months and the entire year, respectively. Profit-before-tax reached VND 1,277 billion, completing 102% of six month plan, equal to 48% of year plan, representing an increase by 6% in comparison with the same period in 2012. Profit-after-tax was VND 1,059 billion and profit-after-tax of holding company was VND 803 billion, increasing 7% compared to the same period of the prior year and completing 48% of plan for six months and 47% for the whole year. Earning per share (EPS) was 2,934 dongs, an increase of 5% compared to the same period last year (calculated on the adjusted volume of stock) to accomplish 48% of the year plan.

Technology and Telecommunication accounted for the most proportion in the profit pie at 76% and had significant growth in comparison with last year. Technology-related businesses include Software, System Integration and IT Services, the cumulative progressive turnover and profit of which increased by 23% and 34%, respectively. Telecommunication business including internet services and digital content grew by 12% in revenue and 8% in profit.

After six months, cash and cash equivalent and short-term investments was VND 3,237 billion, presenting an increase of 20% compared to the same period of 2012.

FPT won nine Sao Khue award 2013

In the Tenth Sao Khue season 2013 organized on April 21, FPT Corporation made outstanding progress by winning nine awards and continued to be the leading company in terms of the number of awards achieved.

Three FPT’s new products starred this year includes FPT.ePOS (developed by FPT IS), a general solution for management of sales and marketing for telecom service providers, FShare –online data storage and sharing service, and Cloud IP Camera (by FPT Telecom).

These products had been developed by FPT IS and FPT Telecom for a long time and have gained impressive result. FPT.ePOS and Cloud IP Camera have taken up remarkable market share while Fshare has been subscribled with 1.3 million accounts, being the No. 1 service of FPT Telecom in term of number of users.

Other six awarded products made by FPT include: Domain/Hosting; Data Center; ADSL and FTTH Internet Service (by FPT Telecom); and Academic and Non-academic IT training by FPT University.

FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh attended World Economic Forum on East Asia WEF 2013

The World Economic Forum on East Asia 2013 opened on June 5 in Yangon, the capital city of Myanmar. The conference attracted the attendance of 900 delegates from 55 nations, including President Benigno Aquino III of the Philippines and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung of Vietnam.

The confe rence took place in the context of Myanmar becoming an attractive destination for global investors thank to its ongoing reforms and available economic resources. Some side activities include d seminars relating to energy and financial matters among heads of state.

FPT Chairman and CEO Truong Gia Binh attended the Forum as a foundation member (FPT was recognized as foundation member of the WEF in 2011). At the WEF on East Asia 2013, Binh hay keynote meetings with the Burman Minister of National Defense and MEC Chairman, Deputy Minister of National Defense and CEO of Communication and Frequency Company; Chairman of Investment Commission and Head of Government Office. FPT also organized the seminar on “ICT- the new development model for Myanmar”.

Previously, Binh had attended the WEF in Davos (Switzerland) as the foundation member for two times.

FPT CEO honorized by Nikkei Asia

On May 22, Nikkei Inc., the leading media group in Japan, gave Truong Gia Binh , FPT Chairman and CEO the Nikkei Asia Prizes for his contribution to Regional Growth. Accordingly, Binh was the first Vietnamese businessman to achieve such noble award since its first happening eighteen years ago

According to Nikkei, Binh not only founded and successfully led FPT to success but also contributing greater part to the development of the IT industry in Vietnam. He was among those who had established Vietnam Software Industry Association and founded a university that provides high quality IT engineers.

The 57 year-old Binh was the youngest compared to Indian Professor Tejraj Aminabhavi of 66 in Science, Technology and Innovation category and Cam bodian engineer, Vann Molyvann of 86 in Culture category.

The Vietnam ICT Summit 2013 was organized on June 20 at Melia Hotel in Hanoi with the theme “Information Technology- the new paradigm of development for Vietnam, comprehensively improving national competitiveness ” .

FPT Software attended career day in Ho Chi Minh City

On April 21, FPT Software attended the career day organized by IT Department, Ho Chi Minh City National University. There were about 2,000 students from various universities and colleges in the city attending the event. This was a good opportunity for them to access recruitment information from FPT Software as well as other IT companies in the city.

Particularly, the students were introduced with F-Seed program that would be organized by FPT Software in Ho Chi Minh City in 2013 to bring applicants with interesting experiences. It would combine a company tour with friendly meetings with the management board for outstanding students .

F-TOWN 2 built in the model of a modern campus

The ground-breaking ceremony to build the F-TOWN 2 at Sai Gon Hi-tech Park, District No. 9, Ho Chi Minh City (SHTP) was organized by FPT Software in the morning of May 16. Accordingly, with F-TOWN 2 and F-TOWN 1, FPT Software will be able to provide more than 3.000 seats for its developers in the model of a modern campus with green trees, and recreation areas.

The F-TOWN 2 project was initially invested with 135 billion dongs on an area of approximately 15,000 m2 to provide 2.000 working seats for employees. The building comprises 1.5 basement floor, one technical floor, and five working floors divided into specific areas for working, business meeting and leisure activities.

The unique feature of the F-TOWN 2 is the hanging lobby connected with the F-TOWN 1, which facilitate moving between the two building. F-TOWN 2 is expected to come into use by late 2014.

FPT Software signed contract with Suntory PepsiCo

June 14, FPT Software Ho Chi Minh City (a member of FPT Software) and Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage (Joint venture between PepsiCo Inc. and Suntory Holdings Limited) officially signed the contract to Implement DMS-lite for the beverage manufacturer. The system would help Suntory PepsiCo with a modern tool to manage its distribution system, a crucial part in introducing new products to market, improving management and sales efficiency.

According to the contract, in the 2013-2015 period, FPT Software would implement the Mobility-based DMS-Lite for the distribution system of Suntory PepsiCo throughout the nation.

The DMS-Lite system for Suntory PepsiCo comprises two components: Distribution (automating sales process, controlling distribution activities, maintaining optimum inventories, saving time and improving go-to-market speed); sales force management (sales target per head, individual performance, working schedule and position, channel sales, and resource optimization). In addition, the system helps distributor manage their finance status, services, promotion programs, warehouse, communication and business reporting.

IT Seminar “Applying IT to use transportation infrastructure more efficiently”

The seminar “Applying IT to use transportation infrastructure more efficiently” was organized by FPT Information System (FPT IS) in cooperation with Da Nang Department of Transportation at the meeting hall, 140 Hai Phong, Da Nang City on May 23, 2013. The seminar aimed to introduce latest technology solutions to enhance transportation infrastructure, reduce traffic jam, manage vehicles and traffic plan.

Speaker from FPT IS had presented the real time location map (Probe) and vehicle identification solution via registered number. These two solutions had been piloted by FPT IS in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Especially, the Probe solution has been deployed by FPT IS in Hanoi for two years, collecting around 3,000 GPS data on taxi and smart phones of motorbike owners at peak time. The vehicle identification solution has also been piloted on the Hanoi- Ho Chi Minh City highway with 95% of accuracy depending on weather and environmental condition.

FPT IS won million-dollar-contract in Laos

On May 9, FPT IS and L ao Telecommunication Company (L TC ) officially signed the contract worth more than 1 million US dollars to implement the Network Operation Center – NOC within five months.To win the bid, FPT IS had defeated two leading telecom suppliers from China and one Thai vendor. This has strongly affirmed that applications and solution made in Vietnam are able to compete in international arena.

The Network Operation Center management system was developed by FPT IS, opening up opportunity to develop and implement general network operation and monitoring system for telecom providers in the regions.

Successful stories of FPT IS’ telecom solutions are also told by FPT.BCCS – the billing and customer care system developed by FPT IS, which has been used by four telcos in Cambodia, three in Laos and one in Myanmar. In the telecommunications industry only, software solution developed by FPT IS has brought more than ten million US dollar for the country

System integration

FPT IS won two bids from the General Department of Taxation

On June 3, FPT IS was announced winner of two bid packages provided by the General Department of Taxation namely “Procurement of IT equipment for seven tax offices in the North” and “Procurement of IT equipment for nineteen tax offices in the South” . The two bids worth more than VND 57 billion are expected to be implemented within 100 days commencing on the contract’s validation date.

FPT IS develops IT management system for Quang Ninh Television

FPT IS and Quang Ninh Television signed the contract to “Supply equipment and develop applications to support professional activities of Quang Ninh Television”.

The project is implemented by FPT TES, who will provide hardware and develops software for all the television and audio stations in districts and townships throughout Quang Ninh province, helping to connect all the life cycle of a program from pre- production to being on air. Though this is not a big value contract, it plays important role in exploring new businesses for FPT IS TES in the television and broadcasting field .

FPT IS introduced e-service package

FPT Information System Corporation (FPT IS) became the first company to introduce e-service package including digital signature (FPT.CA), electronic tax declaration (FPT.eTax) and electronic customs declaration (FPT.eCustoms) on April 25.This marked significant development of FPT IS in providing professional and high quality e-services based on advanced security technology and its intensive experiences in taxation and customs for the past twenty years.

The integration of three services into one single package promises to bring corporate customers with optimum services and benefits. It not only facilitates customers with easier and more flexible usage but also ensures full compliance with international quality standard thank to the Evaluation Assurance Level 4+ (EAL4+).

As all services are bundled on the all-in-one basis, FPT IS can now serve the customers faster and more effectively. Furthermore, the company will provide onsite 24/7 services at no charge for customers, especially in case of technical problems.

FPT IS successfully implemented ERP system for Anova

On May 8, Anova Group declared it had successfully implemented the Oracle ERP solution at Sunrise City, Distric No. 7, Ho Chi Minh City. The solution were implemented by FPT IS from November 2009 to November 2012. The project aimed to computerize the entire production procedure of the group, involving specifically designed modules for Financial, Purchasing, Inventory, Oracle Process manufacturing, Quality, Order Management and Oracle Business Inteligence Application.

Telecommunication

FPT Telecom expects dividend to be paid at no less than 25%

On April 2, the General Shareholder Meeting of FPT Telecom took place in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City through the Telepresence system. The meeting was attended by 28 shareholders, representing 96.8% of total shares.

The GSM approved the plan for dividend payment, incentive, and bonus and welfare budget in 2013. Accordingly, the shareholders will receive cash dividend for the entire year at the rate of no less than 2,500 dongs per share.

In addition to possession of infrastructure made through buying stake in the AAG international cable system in 2008, FPT Telecom has completed and brought into operation the North-South cable system in September 2012. With a clear strategy to expand network coverage, FPT has developed its business presence from 48 cities and provinces throughout the country. The company is also opening its business in a number of countries within the region .

Fshare provides largest data free of charge in Vietnam

According to a recent study by the GenK webpage on the most favorite upload and sharing services in Vietnam, Fshare by FPT of Vietnam and Mediafire are the two largest ones with 50 GB data free of charge for each.

Being the sharing service by FPT Telecom with 50 GB for free and 250 GB for a paid account, FShare is a good option for network users as it provides various options for account upgrade preferred by Vietnamese uploaders.

Recently, upload and sharing services has been increasingly used in Vietnam and all over the world. Beside storing personal data, Vietnamese users also use this service to share their favorite software, music or videos on forums in a fast and convenient manner.

FPT Polytechnic’s first course graduate

Seventy students of FPT Polytechnic took the final exam on the 16^th and 17^th of April, which was followed by a graduation ceremony in Hanoi. Upon completion of internship program, the students entered the revision process for the exam. Previously, the school had provided a short revision course for the students from the 1^st to 6^th of April. The graduation exam included theory and practical exercises.

FPT University and VCCI to jointly teach business start-up

In April, FPT University and Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) signed the agreement to provide the Start Your Bussiness (SYB) subject for FPT students, in which the course book is composed by VCCI. The program was expected to start in May 2013.

Business start-up is one the first subjects taught at FPT University since its early days to provide students with fundamental knowledge on business and business start-up, which would help student successfully realize their business ideas in the future. For the past years, graduates from FPT University are always welcomed by FPT Corporation and other enterprises and they have been keeping important positions. Especially, there have been a large number of FPT students who run their own business of different scales. .

FPT Polytechnic’s first course graduated

On June 8, FPT Polytechnic organized graduation ceremony for more than seventy students of the first course at the student hall. Beside the academic degree, graduate students were also granted with English certificate, Top Notch 2, and Microsoft Office certificate as required by the State. In a recent statistic by the college, there has been more than 70% of graduate students being employed.

Minister Nguyen Hong Quan visited FPT

On June 15, the delegation of the Ministy of Science and Technology and the Commission for Science, Technology and Environment led by Minister Nguyen Hong Quan visited Hoa Lac hi-tech park, including FPT University.

Vice Chairman Bui Quang Ngoc of FPT Corporation received the delegation and made a brief introduction about the university, taking them around the school’s facilities such as student hall, library, dormitory, campus and physical training area.

Retail and distribution

FPT officially distributes iPhone

After nine months of negotiation (from June 2012 to March 2013), FPT Distribution Co. Ltd, a member of FPT Trading) had finished the agreement with Apple, in which the company would officially distribute the state-of-the-art iPhone in the Vietnamese market commencing from April 2013. General Director Vo Hoang Quan of FPT Distribution noted that becoming iPhone authorized distributor would bring huge potential for FPT Distribution in particular and FPT in general.

Having iPhone added to the distribution list made FPT Distribution be the first company in Vietnam to sell all the Apple’s products in Vietnam.

Under the new agreement, FPT Distribution is now the authorized distribution of hardware component of the iPhone without any committed mobile subscription or sim card. It is also the first distributor of all products by Apple (Mac, iPod, iPad, iPhone) in Vietnam’s territory.

FPT introduced the second generation of quadcore mobile phone called FPT V

On May 20, 2013, FPT Technology Products, a member of FPT Trading officially launched the mobile phone FPT V, which employs the next generation of the quadcore Qualcomm (following the FPT IV).

The quadcore Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 with 1.2 GHz of speed, 1 GB of RAM, and 4GB of ROM running on the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system has ensured a good position for FPT V in the mid-range mobile market. As per tested by Quadrant, the software specially designed for measuring performance, the FPT V scored up to 4,484 points (equal to that of HTC One X).

What makes FPT V different is the 5-inch-qHD screen, equipped with IPS background film for vivid displaying with only 8.9 mm of width.

Having the battery of up to 2000 mAh, FPT V is able to handle call duration in five hours and has about 190 hours (8 days) of waiting time. For moderate usage, the battery can last from two to three days for activities such as web browsing, conversation, messaging, etc.

FPT distribute six Lenovo quadcore smart phone

Ho Chi Minh City- FPT Trading officially introduced six new Lenovo smart phones to Vietnamese market on May 31, 2013 including a brand new quadcore one at affordable price.

These products include Lenovo K900, Lenovo P790, Lenovo S920, Lenovo S820, Lenovo A706, and Lenovo A390. Unlike other manufacturers, Lenovo usually introduces various smart phone series into Vietnamese market at a time.

Among these models, Lenovo particularly highlighted on the K900 (which value is around 10 million), emphasizing that this was the first smart phone in the world using the brand new Intel Atom Z2580 2GHz to support hyper threading.

In regards of quadcore smart phone, Lenovo has newly launched the A706 model, which runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8225 microprocessor with 1.2 GHz of speed and will be sold at 3.999 million dogs. Lenovo disclosed that this was the best price for a quadcore smart phone in Vietnam recently.

The rest products were readily integrated with MediaTek microprossesor and are sold at 2.29 million dongs at minimum.

FPT B5 and FPT B8 attract consumer

On June 3, FPT Technology Product Co. Ltd introduced the FPT B5 and FPT B8 mobile phones to meet the demand of the mass consumers.

The outstanding feature of the pair lies in the bar design, which is strong but youthful looking, thin and light weighted (less than 100g) . The screen size of FPT B5 and B8 are 2.4 inch và 2.6 inch, respectively, with clear and manageable physical keypad. Both products have basic features such as 2 SIM slots, Bluetooth, USB port, VGA camera, video, FM player, and extended memory slot of up to 4GB for FPT B5 and 32 GB for FPT B8.

Recently, the FPT B5 and FPT B8 are available in all FPT’s shops at only 529,000 dongs and 599,000 dongs (VAT included) with 13- month- warranty.
