Eearning release: FPT earned 578 billion dongs in the first three months

The Corporation’s core businesses remained remarkable growth.

Telecommunication service earned VND 658 billion and VND 186 billion in revenue and profit, respectively and increased 31% in comparison with the same period of 2011.

Online service grew 134% to VND 380 billion in revenue and 60 billion in profit at an increase of 30% compared to the same period of the prior year.

Revenue from software development reached VNd 381 billion, increasing 16% when compared to the same period last year.

System integration increased 91% in profit to approximately VND 57 billion and earned VND 488 billion in revenue.

IT services and distribution performed fairly well, bring in VND 120 billion and VND 3,771 billion in revenue, respectively.

Education maintained high growthrate at 45.5%.

With the positive result, FPT Corporation expects to fulfill the plan for the entire year.

Activities – Events

FPT Chairman attended World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos

From January 23 to 29, 2012, FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh attended the annual meeting of the WEF in Davos, Switzerland.

This is the first time FPT attended the WEF’s event as a foundation member, where it could take good chances to exchange information with about twenty potential partners. Initial cooperation agreement were discussed between FPT and Intel and SK Planet.

Opening NSCS Software Center

On March 29, NS. Computer Service (NSCS) and FPT Software officially opened the NSCS-Vietnam Software Center in FPT Da Nang Building.

The newly established center is responsible for developing NSCS software in Vietnam, including production and sales management software and embedded software..

FPT Retail opens the largest shop in Ho Chi Minh City

The 21st shop was launched by FPT Retail on March 27 in No.261-263 Khanh Hoi, District No. 4, Ho Chi Minh City.

This is the largest shop of FPT Retail, therefore, attracting the attendance of FPT leaders and partners. It is built in a brand new model with a showroom for product exhibition and an office area for working and training activities of FPT Retail.

FPT started trading household appliances in February

In February 2012, the Electronic Product Trading Center (PCE) of FPT Trading Group imported the first batch of home appliances to start this brand new business.

Right after its foundation in January 2012, PCE has become the exclusive distributor of a number of products of Panasonic and Syabas (U.S)- the world’s leading manufacturer of Set Top Box (for decoding video signal) and HD Media Player such as Popcorn Hour and Popbox.

FPT IS won big contracts

The project worth VND 16 billion to implement SAP ERP system was officially launched on March 1 in Ho Chi Minh City by FPT IS, SAP and Licogi 16.

On March, 20, the project to “Build internal financial management and credit management software system” for Maritime Bank was officially launched at the Bank’s Headquarter in 88 Lang Ha, Hanoi.

Also in March, FPT IS was awarded major projects including: “Procurement of IT equipement for provincial and district registration offices” of the project “Completion and modernization of land administration system of Vietnam” for the General Department of Land Administration; “Upgrading existing tax management system to centralized processing model” for the General Department of Taxation; “Upgrade and Implementation of Non-Agriculture Land Tax Management” for the General Department of Taxation.

FPT introduced ATM Guard

After a fifteen- month research, FPT Information System Services (FPT IS Services) succeeded in manufacturing alarming device for ATM called FPT ATM Guard.

The compact and mission-critical design of this alarming system enables proactive detection of unpermitted ATM detachment, sabotage by bust or blow-torch over ATM; violent vibration or removal of an ATM.

OneTV added three new channels

Commencing March 1, 2012, the OneTV entertainment service provided by FPT Telecom offers three additional Vietnames TV channels including: Sport-Tourism- Culture Channel (STTV); VNK – Home Shopping; and Economic, Financial and Consumption Advices .

These three channels are provided by Hanoi Television and will be offered in the OneTV Basic, increasing the total number of channels in the Basic package to 76 and the OneTV in general to 78.

F6 – the first Smartphone made by FPT

On March 13, F6 – the first smartphone with every smart features and embedded value-added applications made by FPT was officially introduced to the mass market.

Operating on Android 2.3, with 2- sim-lot, FPT F6 is equiped with two cameras, including a 3.0 megapixel auto-capture camera on the back and a VGA camera on the front. In addition to 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPRS, mobile Wi-Fi transmitter, and USB port, FPT F6 is also extended with microSD lot to provide external storage of up to 16 GB.

Cooperation

NeuSoft and FPT will cooperate in healthcare area

From February 7 to 12, the FPT delegation led by Chairman Truong Gia Binh visited and worked with Neusoft Corporation in China. FPT will sign a contract to invest in and trade medical equipment after having reviewed the proposal of the healthcare technology project team.

FPT IS became Fujitsu Select Partner

On March 1, Fujitsu officially announced the names of its authorized distributors in Vietnam. Accordingly, FPT IS became its marketer, delivering Primergy server, Eternus storage, Palmsecure and Scanner for projects in Vietnam.

FPT Jetking admits the first students

Upon opening the two first centers in Vietnam, the FPT Jetking Hardware and Network Institute (a member of FPT University) offered special promotion for the first fifty students with fifty Amazon Kindle Fire and a 50%-off- English course upon registration.

FPT Polytechnic opened new training centers in Thanh Hoa and Quang Ninh

FPT University Director, Dr.Le Truong Tung decided to open two training centers of FPT Polytecnic in Quang Ninh and Thanh Hoa and appointed Dr. Dam Quang Minh, Director of FPT Polytechnic Vietnam, the project director.

The enrolment target of these two centers is 400 students in 2012. Information system, course books, curriculum and other training materials are provided with the same standards as other centers of FPT Polytechnic throughout the nation.

FPT Research Institute won the first place at EADS competition

On February, 2012, the highest place of the competition ran by European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company (EADS) to search for technology solution to help fishermen survive in storms went to researchers from the Space Researching Center (Fspace) of FPT Technology Institute .

This is the first year the competition has been organized in Vietnam, attracting the participation of univesities and intitutes all over the country.

FSpace to involve in creating fire-detecting satelite

FPT Space Research Center (FSpace) will cooperate with the UNIFORM project team of Japan to create a bundle of small satellites for early detection of forest fire.

The first pilot model of the UNIFORM-1 is under strict examination in the lab of Astronaut Engineering Department of the University of Tokyo. The first satellite is expected to be launched by the end of 2013. The launch of next satellites will be done in 2014 and 2015 to complete this satellite bundle.
