This was the third subsequent session the VN-Index has risen, making up for three previous days of falling.

According to analysts, the cause of the increase, despite measures introduced by the State Securities Commission to curb the stock market “fever”, was the return of many investors who realized that the basic indices of listed firms had improved after good business results in Q4 2006 and 2006 as a whole were announced.

Information regarding the Goldman Sachs Group entering the stock market also gave investors faith in the market.

According to statistics from the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange Center, the stock market today saw 72 stocks rise, while 23 fell and 14 remained unchanged.

More than 7.5 million shares worth VND1,000 billion were traded, an increase of just 4.5% but a 15% rise in terms of value compared to the previous session.

FPT’s blue chip stock increased VND15,000, to VND645,000.
