Five outstanding events of FPT University in 2013
2013 is a special year of FPT University (FU). Five following events can be considered milestones in its development stage.

1. Establish FPT high school
In March 2013, FPT high school was officially founded. As a high-quality school under FU, FPT high school is run under boarding model and headquartered in Hoa Lac High Tech Park. Inheriting many educational achievements from FU, FPT high school is expected to solve shortcomings of general education such as language, skills, thinking methods etc. Students are well prepared to follow international education programs, study abroad or enter top universities in the country.
2. Welcome first international students to study formal university program by FU
In 2013, FU officially has first international students to study formal university program lasting 4 years. 41 students from Korea, Nigeria, Cameron and Laos would major in information technology and business administration. That the first international students officially attend its full-time university program lasting 4 years is considered a milestone as well as an initial result in the efforts to bring Vietnam's higher education in general and FU’s one in particular to the world.
Besides, FU also welcomes many students from countries such as Japan, Thailand, Brunei, France and Portugal to study under short-term courses or student exchange programs.
3. Found some new units
In April 2013, FPT International Academy was formally established. Its main tasks consists of admitting students for education programs in Vietnam as well as Vietnamese students for international education programs and open more FU branches overseas. This becomes an important milestone in the globalization process of FU.
Also in April, FU formally launched FPT Technology International Creativity
Company FTICO. Operating as a nonprofit company, it creates an environment to help students with career startup . It will invest in students’ business ideas as well as give them opportunities to work for projects.
In November, the English center chain called FPT GEM English was opened to offer high - quality English Language programs for students aged 7-13.
4. Be granted the land-use rights in Saigon Hi-tech Park
In 2013, FPT University was closer to the goal of decent infrastructure in three regions. In October 2013, the Management Board of Saigon High - Tech Park decided to grant investment certificate for the project of Technology Training and Research Centre under FU. The center will be built on an area of more than 2 hectares with total investment of VND 400 billion . At the same time, Artillery Command handed over 5 hectares of land to FPT University headquartered in Hoa Lac for the 2nd phase of construction in the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park (Hanoi).
5. Implement “9 +4” program
FPT Polytechnic decided to deploy an early career program called “9+4”, under which graduates from secondary schools can study more 3 years to get vocational certificates, or 4 years to get full-time vocational college certificates. the career separation under the 9 +4 model would help solve social psychology of flocking to universities, ease inter- college and reduce time for startup.
