The program is made possible thanks to 50% discount on Thong Nhat bicycles. The program aims to encourage cycling to work, promote exercise, reduce fuel consumption, and directly contribute to environmental protection efforts.
On its first day, the club started the “Le Tour de FPT” on the occasion of FPT’s 20th birthday, cycling through FPT’s past 7 headquarters. FPT and Thong Nhat will continue to expand the program nationwide by organizing different activities to attract the participation of community members.
Mr. Trương Gia Bình, General Director of FPT Corporation said: “FPT’s leaders strongly support the initiative as well as the club. We are delighted to have the support of the leaders of Thong Nhat. We hope the club’s activities will receive attract the attention of the public and other enterprises”.
Prior to this initiative, FPT Software – a subsidiary of FPT Corporation – have started an incentive program for staff cycling or commuting by bus to work since August 2008. A cycling staff of at least 15 days/month will receive an end-of-month bonus of VND 500.000, in addition a VND 100.000 stipend. Bus-commuters will receive inclusive support for bus fares. FPT Software currently has 150 cycling staff and 90 bus-commuters (out of 1500 employees).
Cycling has long been proven to bring many benefits. Cyclists can save up a hefty sum on fuel expenditures, while getting exercise and enjoying the fun of contributing to community activities. Cycling is a proactive effort to protect the environment, reduce pollution… Cycling has become a common means of transport in many developed countries, with the City of San Francisco even holding an annual “Cycle to Work” Day for the past 13 years.
