After 11 years, Vietnam won the right to host the event for the second time. In 2003, ASOCIO ICT Summit successfully held in Hanoi for the first time surprised the international IT community as Vietnam was not yet recognized in the world‘s IT map.
In March 2014, at the meeting of the ASOCIO Council in Hong Kong, VINASA successfully defended the plan for the Forum.

ASOCIO ICT Summit 2014 will be themed IT Apps to Agriculture Restructuring. The event, the biggest of its kind in Asia-Pacific, will offer a good chance to Vietnam to learn from international experience in creating new agricultural and rural development models, thus bringing about a socio-economic facelift, said Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA).
More than 700 delegates from 30 economies in the region, 250 of whom are leaders of leading ICT associations and firms, are expected to participate in the event to discuss visions and strategies to use IT as a pedal for socio-economic development, towards the building of a dynamic, creative and civilized Asia-Pacific community. The meeting of ASOCIO Council and Japan IT Day 2014 will be held in Hanoi on this occasion.
A number of talks will be held during the forum, focusing on the IT application in smart agriculture, health, and transport, human resources development, and public services.
Besides FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh, this year’s ASOCIO will be joined by FPT CTO Nguyen Lam Phuong, CEO of FPT IS Pham Minh Tuan, and Chairman of FPT University Le Truong Tung University. The FPT leader will attend the discussion on SMAC opportunity for ASEAN’s young entrepreneurs, smart transportation and SMAC - innovation and talent development.
Over the past 11 years, Viet Nam has gained prestige in the global software industry. Ha Noi and HCM City have been continuously listed among the cities which are attractive for software processing and exports.
In 2012, Viet Nam surpassed India by becoming the second biggest partner of software processing for Japan.
ASOCIO was established in 1984 with the objective of promoting, encouraging and fostering relationships and trade between its members, and to develop the computing industry in the region.
Last year, Chairman of FPT Software Hoang Nam Tien shared about Vietnam’s opportunities during the program held from September 26 to 28 in Bangkok, Thailand.
