FPT Chairman becomes speaker at Under 30 Summit

Under the theme: “The Next Generation”, Forbes Vietnam’s Under 30 Summit, the first of its kind in Vietnam, will focus on the young generation, those who were born in the 70’s and 80’s forward.

Among the speakers are Madam Ton Nu Thi Ninh, former Vietnamese Ambassador to the EU; Mr. Truong Gia Binh, founder and Chair of FPT Corp; Mr. Le Hong Minh, founder and Chair of VNG Corp; Mr. Khailee, Managing Partner of 500 Startups; Mr. Do Hoai Nam, CEO of SeeSpace, Inc., Mr. Pham Hong Hai, CEO of HSBC Vietnam; and young stars from the Forbes Vietnam’s 30 Under 30 2015 list.

Katy Perry, singer, songwriter, UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and a former Forbes ‘30 under 30’alumna, will engage Vietnamese youth in speaking out about shaping their own future, elevating their voices on issues that they believe are the most important in their own lives.

“Forbes Vietnam’s Under 30 Summit brings together the future leaders of this generation, encourages their entrepreneurship, and helps them unleash their potential by providing visions and insights from the top leaders in their fields,” said Mr. Nguyen Bao Hoang, chair of Interactive Media Limited Company, which helps publish Forbes Vietnam magazine.

Forbes Vietnam’s Under 30 Summit is expected to bring together some 800 participants who are future leaders of this next generation: young entrepreneurs, artists, scientists, activists, professionals and students. In a whole day conference, aside from keynote speeches, talks and discussions, there will also be a start-up contest finale, startupideas’ showcases and art performances.

In February 2015, Forbes Vietnam released its debut 30 Under 30 List, which highlighted outstanding young people under 30 years old in various field. The 30 Under 30 List, as well as the Under 30 Summit, is a part of Forbes Vietnam’s effort to promote entrepreneurship and leadership among young people in Vietnam.

In speaker introduction, Forbes Vietnam said that on 13th September 1988, Mr. Truong Gia Binh and 12 other Vietnamese scientists established FPT Food Processing Technology Company, precursor of FPT Corporation.

Under his guidance, FPT has become the leading ICT company in Vietnam, currently making its best effort to become global with 22,000 employees in 4 continents and 19 countries.

Mr. Binh is also an enthusiastic man towards his nation and influences IT-related policies by the Vietnamese government. He received the Nikkei Asian Award in 2013 honored by Nikkei Inc. for his efforts in developing FPT and his wider contribution to Vietnam’s IT sector. He is the first Vietnamese entrepreneur who has received Nikkei Asian Award since it launched 18 years ago.

He is Chairman of Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA), Vice Chairman of the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO). He is former Chairman of Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs’ Association in the first and second terms (1998-2005). He always puts all his belief and dedicated himself to developing Vietnam’s young generation who have a sense of purpose and are determined to pursue their dreams.

Mr. Binh graduated from Mechanical Mathematics Department of Moscow National General University named Lomonosov of the former Soviet Union, which is now Russian Federation in 1979. He obtained his PhD. in this university in 1982 and was honored as an Associate Professor by the State of Vietnam in 1991.
