FPT IS to build the statistical data center of Vietnam

The package is one of the key components within the framework of the project Modernization of the General Statistic Office, which is one of five largest subprojects of the Vietnam ITC Project funded by the World Bank’s ODA.

Hanoi, December 13, the Project Management Unit (PMU) of the project Modernization of the General Statistic Office (GSO) and FPT Information System Corporation (FPT IS) organized the kick-off ceremony of the “GSO5.2a: Building Centralized Statistic Datacenter and Internal Information Portal for the Statistic Industry”.

The kick-off ceremony was attended by Mr. Do Thuc- Director of the General Statistic Office, Mr. Nguyen Van Lieu- Deputy Director of GSO; Chairman Do Cao Bao of FPT Information System Corporation and General Director of FPT IS FSE.

FPT IS will apply the Microsoft’s latest technology with cloud computing- oriented solutions to build Data Warehouse for the centralized statistical data center and information portal of the General Statistic Office in six month period.

Mr. Nguyen Van Lieu, Deputy Director of GSO, said: “ the package GO5.2a aims to organize data centrally with continuous updates from official data sources and improve the statistical synthesis and analysis using data warehouse and datamarts with the assistance of business intelligence (BI) and data mining tools and enhance user experience by convenient and fast data sharing via the Information Portal”.

The completed system would be greatly helpful for functional divisions within the GSO, Statistical Information Centers in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City, and statistic offices of provinces and cities across the nation.

The fast and accurately processed data will help state agencies make better policies and timely action plan. Enterprises and people can also be strongly supported with their business planning, researching and studying.

The GSO Director remarked that this was the largest package under the framework of the project Modernization of General Statistic Office, which had been deployed since June 2006 and expected to last until June 2013.

Explaining the reason for choosing FPT IS to implement this project, Mr. Thuc said: “FPT IS is the largest system integrator in Vietnam at the moment and the company has accompanied with the General Statistic Office for years”. FPT IS contributed a remarkable part to the success of the 2009 Population Census of Vietnam, which has earned the Office’s satisfaction and confidence.

Chairman Do Cao Bao of FPT IS committed to mobilize all the resources to ensure on time completion of the project.
