Cherry blossoms – The symbol of Japan

“2009 Japanese Sakura Festival in Vietnam” will take place at 3 locations: Quan Ngua Stadium in Hanoi; the exhibition hall of Hanoi Fine Arts University and Deawoo Hà Nội Hotel. This event is scheduled to attract 200 000 participators.

Sakura Festivals have been organized annually in Vietnam since 2007 as an activity to help promote the cultural exchanges between 2 countries.

This festival is organized with the permission and support of government’s agencies and organizations and enterprises of the two countries.

This year at Quan Ngua Stadium – the main hall of the festival, there will be a lot of Japanese traditional arts and culture introduction activities as well as other culinary culture exchange activities between Vietnam and Japan.

At the stalls of Japanese companies and universities, there will be activities to promote economic exchanges and cooperation as well as studying abroad.

The current worldwide economic crisis is clearly showing the limitation of the pro-American economy model – the model that has supported Japan since the ending of World War II. This situation forces Japan to reconsider the economic development strategies to follow the direction of regarding Asia – Pacific region as the focus, and Vietnam is one of those important strategic partners.

This year, for the first time, the trade exchange between Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises has been introduced into the program of the Sakura Festival. With the co-organization of two Vietnamese top-ranking enterprises – FPT Corporation and Vietnam Airline – as well as many other enterprises of the two countries. this will be an occasion for both sides to foster understanding and look for opportunities to cooperate in the future.

This year, FPT has introduced many new features in the content of the festival, which include:

- The exhibition area - FPT ZONE – in the hall with compartments introducing for 3 days 3 softwares operating with Garden Network: accounting software, hotel software and petrol station software; embedded softwares; space research room, Elead products …

- Vietnamese music and fashion programme from 14.30 to 15.30 on April 11 (Saturday) and Dragon Drum Dance at 9.30 on April 12 (Sunday, at Quan Ngua Stadium)

- Yosakoi parade-dance of FPT Software Company and FPT University at 15.00 on April 12 (Sunday, at Quan Ngua Stadium).

• April 01 (Wednesday): Press conference about the organization of the festival (at Deawoo Ha Noi Hotel).
• April 09 (Thursday): Transport fresh cherry blossoms from Narita Airport to Vietnam.
• April 10 (Friday): “Japanese Week” begins (at Quan Ngua Stadium)
• April 11 (Saturday): Reception (at Deawoo Ha Noi Hotel).
• April 12 (Sunday): Opening ceremony “2009 Japanese Sakura Festival in Vietnam” (at Quan Ngua Stadium).
