More than 11 million transactions at BIDV on December 31, 2015 (doubling the number of transactions on normal days) were conducted. BIDV’s Core Banking and other trading systems still operated normally and did not stall till the next day as in the previous years. Also, the system did not overload when some 1,000 transactions were made simultaneously.
The ERP system was officially applied at the State-owned Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) on January 26. BIDV’s 185 branches and 233 units nationwide successfully operated the ERP system. So far, this is the biggest Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in Vietnam’s banking sector, helping the bank modernize its enterprise resource planning, increase precision and minimize risks.
This system has solved more than 300 reports, 18 new forms of which are designed specifically for BIDV, integrating with 10 system resources and other 8 integrated problems.
Specifically, in this project, FPT IS became Vietnam's first IT firm to successfully deploy Financial Accounting Hub – FAH – an integrated solution. According to Mr. Mai Cong Nguyen, General Director of FPT ERP Services, FAH was complex and vital component which few IT enterprises in Vietnam had enough capacity to successfully handle. Earlier, only foreign partners deployed this solution. Therefore, FPT IS’ success proved that Vietnamese IT enterprises’ capability was catching up with the others’ in the world.
The construction of the ERP system for BIDV included a great amount of work and required advanced techniques. Although completing the project on time was a real challenge, the completion one month ahead of schedule was possible thanks to efforts from both the bank and the designer, said Mr. Mai Cong Nguyen.
The project was planned in BIDV’s strategy to enhance IT application, aiming at becoming the leading modern commercial bank in Vietnam. After the successful implementation of the ERP system, the core banking system will be offloaded to centralize business operations. Owning FAH and ERP allows BIDV easily change and update its core banking system at the speed of IT development at present. Perfecting this system, BIDV is one of the pioneers in ERP application according to international standards.
