FPT Telecom receives commendation for .vn domain growth

FPT Telecom was recently commended by the Vietnam Internet Network Information Centre (VVNIC) under the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications for its active contributions to the .vn domain growth in 2007.

According to statistics from VNNIC, as of end of 2007, FPT Telecom has 12,287 operating domain names, accounting for 21.9% market share – taking the No. 1 position among 16 registered domain name registration companies in Vietnam . In 2007 alone, FPT Telecom developed another 6,749 new domain names, 24% of 2007 market share, being the fastest growing company for domain names.

Mr. Lê Nam Trung, Deputy Director of VNNIC – the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications representative who awarded the honor to FPT Telecom comments: “The .vn domain is considered as a national resource, assuring strong and stable growth to promote Vietnam ’s internet image globally. It will also help to promote the level of online services made by Vietnamese nationals, companies and organizations. FPT Telecom is one such company proactively helping VNNIC achieve this goal. We highly appreciate FPT Telecom’s dynamics and achievements in utilizing its strength to promote the growth of .vn domain as well as other value added services. We hope that with its professionalism in communications and customer service, observance of regulations and good cooperation with directing agencies, FPT Telecom will continue to remain in the lead.”

As of end of March 2008, FPT Telecom has 13,490 operating domain names, taking a 21.95% market share.

Mr. Trần Ngọc Quang – Head of the Domain Department of FPT Online Data Center under FPT Telecom – says: “We will continue to be the pioneering organization in promoting .vn domain in Vietnam , contributing to the growth of domestic Internet growth and e-commerce”.

VNNIC estimates domain growth for 2008 will exceed 50% (as compared to 2007), reaching the 100 thousand mark by 2010.
