FPT Telecommunication Provides Internet Services via Optic Cables
On 1 June 2006, FPT officially introduced high speed Internet services via optic cables. FTTH (fiber to the home) uses optic cables connecting from ISPs directly to customers’ houses, leading to higher quality and larger bandwidth compared to copper cables (as used with ADSL services).

Having experimented with the technology since December 2005, FPT Telecommunications officially began providing FTTH service under the principle “all services in the same connection network”. FTTH is expected to gradually replace ADSL in the future, as the capacity of the ADSL bandwidth is insufficient for providing some online services.
The advantage of using optic cables is its ability to avoid jamming due to poor weather or the length of the cable. The FTTH bandwidth reaches speeds measured in Gigabit per second, compared to Megabit per second with copper cables. FTTH supplies a static IP, suitable for enterprises to launch online services such as IP camera, mail storage, or high speed data transmission.
