FPT titled Second Largest Private Company

Vice Chairwoman Truong Thanh Thanh of FPT Corporation received the title Second Largest Private Company in Vietnam for the company on 13th January 2012 at Thong Nhat Palace, Ho Chi Minh City.

The VNR500 award presentation was attended by representatives of largest firms in Vietnam and prestigious domestic and foreign economists. It was also attended by the delegation of professors, businessmen and MBA from Harvard Business School, the U.S.

Regarding private sector, this is the second time FPT has ranked the second largest firm of Vietnam. It had been holding the first position from 2007 to 2009.

The largest private enterprise this year is Sacombank Jewelry Company Limited

Other eight largest private companies include: Doji Gold and Gems Group; Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ACB); Vinamilk; Thai Hung Commercial Joint Stock Company; Hoa Phat Group; Phu Nhuan Jewelry (PNJ); Technology and Commerce Bank of Vietnam (Techcombank); and Sai Gon Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Sacombank).

In the Top 500 list, FPT was ranked the 31st, 9 steps lower than 2010.

Ten largest enterprises of VNR500 include: PetroVietnam, Petrolimex, Vietnam National Post and Telecommunication Corporation (VNPT); Saigon Jewelry Corporation (SJC); Vietnam Electricity (EVN); Vietso Petro Joint Venture, Viettel Telecom, Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Corporation, Vietnam Oil Corporation (PV Oil) and Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank).

The VNR500 is developed on the Vietnam Report Business Database and the latest surveys on enterprises nationwide, which was updated on December 31,2010.

To be named the largest enterprise in the VNR500, the company’s revenue should reach at least 1,500 billion dongs. Private company should have the revenue of at least 600 billion dongs and the shares owned by private stakeholders should account for at least 51%.

This is the fifth consecutive year the VNR500 has been declared to recognize and honour the achievement of the Vietnamese enterprise community.
