FPT University to attend world final of ACM/ICPC World Finals 2014

The team of FPT University (FU) is the only representative of Vietnam to win a ticket to the World Finals of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM/ICPC) held in Russia, in June 2014. This is considered one of the best results of Vietnamese teams since their participation in this contest.

FU’s team won a ticket to the final of ACM/ICPC World Finals held in Russia in June 2014.

The regional round of ACM/ICPC was held in Da Nang City, bringing together 250 outstanding teams in IT sector from 71 universities, colleges and academies nationwide and 15 international teams from Japan, China, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand and Indonesia.

Finishing 8 out of 10 tasks, FPT University and Peking University (China) ended the round with the same result. Peking University’s team gained the first prize due to spending less play time than FU’s team. Winning the second ranking in the regional round and the first ranking among Vietnamese teams, FU’s team officially becomes Vietnam’s representative to compete with more than 120 teams from 91 countries and territories in the ACM/ICPC World Finals taking place in Ekaterinburg, Russia.

Since 2006, Vietnamese teams have continuously b een ranked among top 100 universities in the ACM/ICPC World Finals. As a result, it will make a significant contribution to improving position of Vietnam’s IT training in the world.

ACM/ICPC, known as the world’s prestigious programming contest held annually, gathers excellent students of programming and algorithms all over the world. In 1977, the contest was held for the first time in the U.S. under the auspices of the Association for Computing Machinery – ACM. Since 1989, it has been expanded for IT students all over the world.
