FPT's milestones on the way of globalization
Undergoing 25 years of development, FPT has boldly stepped on the path of globalization and gained many successes today. Here are the key events during its sailing to the sea.

1989 - 1995
FPT made relations with many famous computer manufacturers in the world such as Olivetti, IBM and Compaq to distribute their products in Vietnamese market.
The company also signed the first software contract with the foreign customer Cathay Trust Bank (now Chinfon Bank in Taiwan).
1996
FPT entered the Cambodian market with the software launch for Campubank.
1997
Trade Alliance between FPT and Oracle was officially formed to put the Oracle database into such great projects as the software contract with A27, the tax automation contract with the General Department of Taxation, Ministry of Finance etc.
1998
On 26-27 September, Dien Hong Conference was held in Do Son. FPT agreed globalization determination with software exports as the focus. At the same time, it also entered Laos' market with the software implementation for Public Bank.
1999
In January, FPT established its branch in Bangalore, India.
On June 13, FPT exported software to the North American market for the first time.
In September, it set up the joint programming training center with India’s IT training organization Aptech.
2000
In January, FPT opened its office in the U.S. and atarted to build FPT Software Technology Park.
On February 17, FPT became the first IT Company in Vietnam to receive ISO 9001 Certification.
On March 23, FPT and Harvey Nash (UK) signed a cooperation agreement in the field of manufacturing and outsourcing software with a total value of USD 500,000. In 2000, FPT also founded its first OSDC.
2001
FPT was the first IT Company in Southeast Asia to receive the ISO 9000:2000 Certification.
2002
FPT become a partner of IBM Japan.
On March 16, FPT Software was certified CMM4, becoming one of 120 software companies with the top quality in the world and the first company in Southeast Asia to gain this certifiction.
2003
On October 20, FPT was recognized as Cisco’s Silver partner.
2004
On March 27, FPT Software was the first company Vietnam and the 73rd in the world to be certified CMM level 5. This is the highest certification of the quality management system CMM by Software Engineering Institute of America (SEI).
On October 6, FPT IS was the first company in Indochina to become Cisco’s Gold Partner.
2005
On September 6, FPT was officially certified Oracle’s Advantage Partner.
On October 20, FPT IS became the first Gold Partner of Microsoft in Vietnam.
On November 13, FPT established FPT Software Japan Co. Ltd in Tokyo. This is the first IT Company in Vietnam to establish a legal entity in Japan.
2006
On 28 March, FPT Software singed the greatest software contract ever worth USD 6.4 million with Petronas Group. FPT Software became the main contractor of Petronas to convert 10,000 applications on Lotus Notes to the Microsoft platform. It was the first time FPT played role as a contractor overseas.
On April 27, Microsoft and FPT announced MOU on strategic partnership, marking a milestone in the comprehensive cooperation towards developing the information technology applications in Asia Pacific, and also recording a remarkable growth of Vietnam’s IT industry in general and FPT in particular.
On May 30, FPT Software announced to be granted CMMi level 5.
2007
On March 13, FPT Software inaugurated FPT Software Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. This is Vietnam’s first software company to open a branch in Singapore.
On April 18, FPT IS was named a Cisco System’s Enterprise Partner of the Year for Asia.
On June 21, FPT was recognized as the top sales partner of Microsoft in Vietnam, and authorized to perform the contract using Microsoft Office software license for the entire computer systems of governmental and local bodies.
2008
On January 28, FPT Telecom officially become a member of the AAG (Asia - American Gateway), and jointly invested in the international undersea cables through the Pacific Ocean.
On June 13, FPT Software Europe commenced its first headquarters in Paris, France.
On July 3, SAP Asia Pacific Japan (APJ) and FPT Corporation announced a cooperation agreement in Southeast Asia and Japan markets.
On July 9, FPT Software established Software Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
On December 26, FPT IS signed the contract for the "Management of Personal Income Tax" project, the value of which is highest ever for the company at 15.5 million USD.
2009
On October 9, FPT successfully issued 1,800 bonds enclosed with right certificates with total value of VND 1,800 billion. This is the first issue of bonds enclosed with right certificates in Vietnam in accordance with international standards.
This issue shows changing steps in using new financial instruments, contributing to re-structuring the financial system of the Corporation as well as commitment of FPT in direction to international standards on enterprise administration and globalization.
2011
On March 16, FPT Software officially took CMMi Level 5 version 1.2.
In August, launching FPT IS Singapore - an independent legal entity to represent FPT IS in Singapore market. FPT IS Singapore targets small and medium businesses - a large market with great demands for information technology services and products.
On November 9, the cooperation model between FPT and Hitachi was improved upon switching from software outsourcing to the research and development of products and solutions. The event is considered as FPT's turning point after 8 years of working with the leading corporation of Japan - Hitachi.
Also in November, FPT became a Foundation Member of the World Economic Forum (WEF). WEF has 1,000 members selected from typical companies around the globe, the leading organizations in their fields in the countries.
2012
On November 16, FPT University became the first university in Vietnam to be officially rated Three-star-standard (***) by the QS Stars at the QS APPLE International Education Conference. This is seen as the first step in its strategy towards international integration with 20 % of students and lecturers abroad by 2015.
FPT Software became the only software company in Vietnam to be selected one of the top 100 global service providers, along with such well-knowned technology companies as Infosys , Unisys, CSC and Neusoft byGlobal Services (India) and NeoGroup (U.S.).
On November 15, FPT IS was the only representative of Vietnam to attend ASEAN ICT Awards 2012 held in the Philippines. FPT. eHospital won Gold medal for the private sector and FPT.eGov achived the Silver one for the public sector, making Vietnam become one of the countries with the highest achievement.
2013
In February, FPT established a representative office in Myanmar to make relations with the government, ICT associations and customers with needs for IT applications here.
In March, the first BPO Joint Venture in Southeast Asia, F-AGREX, was officially established by and between AGREX, a Tokyo-based member of IT Holdings (ITHD) of Japan and FPT Software.
In May, FPT IS signed a contract worth more than USD1 million with Lao Telecommunication Company (LTC) and then aother software contract worth USD 2.5 million with this firm in September.
In September, 41 students from South Korea, Nigeria, Cameroon and Laos became the first group to follow the full-time program by FPT University. Also in September, FPT was the first software export business in Vietnam to participate in the Gartner summit as a platinum sponsor.
