Winning bid from the Prime Group

On 20 August, FPT IS was officially announced winner of the ERP tender for the Prime Group. Accordingly, it will deploy general and specific modules of the group within sixteen months. The general modules include accounting – finance, procurement, inventory management, and budget – planning, and they will be implemented for all Prime Group member companies. Some specialized modules will be also deployed such as management and consolidated reports, continuous production management, discrete manufacturing management, and costing solutions for member companies. FPT IS implemented, tested and took over the ERP system for the Prime Group two years ago, and will now upgrade and expand the system with new modules .

FPT Telecom International opened trading offices in Can Tho and Sa Dec.

On 15 August, the FPT Telecom International’s trading office officially came into operation. The office, tel: (0710) 7305567- Hotline: 0903728193, locates at 190E, 30/04 street, Hung Loi ward, Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho province. This is one of the events to expand the company’s business coverage in the Southwest region. The office has cooperated with branches to provide hosting service, hosted email, and storage services to every local customer.

Previously, on 9 August, FPT Telecom also opened a similar office in Sa Dec town of Dong Thap province at 12 Nguyen Cu Trinh, ward No.1 (tel: 067. 625 4898). Through this office, FPT Telecom will provide ADSL, FTTH internet, on-demand-television (iTV) services and the Triple Play service packet for customer.

FPT Arena celebrated the 6^th anniversary

The 6^th anniversary celebration of FPT Multi Media Training Center (FPT- Arena) was held at FPT University in the evening of 29 August. The ceremony attracted the attendance of undergraduates and alumni by exciting activities such as exhibition, photo taking and brain- teasing games. Especially, on this occasion, the center granted certificates to 200 members upon their course completion.

FPT Telecom cooperated with VSTV to air K+ channels on iTV system.

Commencing on 2 September 2010, the FPT Telecom’s iTV system shall broadcast the K+1 and K+ Nhip song channels copyrighted by Vietnam Satellite Television (VSTV). Accordingly, FPT Telecom’s internet subscribers are able to watch exciting football championships such as the Premiere League, the La Liga, the Seri A, and the Champions League.

FPT Telecom is the first company to contract with K+. Accordingly, FPT Telecom is the exclusive broadcaster of K+ channels in IPTV format. To watch K+ in iTV system, you should subscribe for FPT Telecom’s broad-band internet connection service (either ADSL or FTTH) and an iTV adaptor connected to your TV set. Nganluong.vn and FPT Telecom International to integrate e-payment portal together.

Early August 8, FPT Telecom International signed the agreement with the Nganluong.vn to integrate e-payment portal into the company’s website http://data.fpt.vn. When purchasing for domain and hosting services provided by FPT Telecom, it only takes customer five minutes to make payment to the nganluong.vn through a simple internet connection instead of going directly to the company or using bank transfer as before.

Lease server, win F99 mobile phone

FPT Telecom International, in cooperation with FPT Elead, has launched a promotion program “Lease server, win F99 mobile phone”, which lasts from 20 August to 20 October. To participate in the program, customers should lease the FPT Elead SR341-X3430 server for private use within 24 months at the minimum cost of VND 2.7 million/month fully paid within twelve months. In case of 24-month payment period, customers will be given one more free leasing month. They will also receive an FPT F99 mobile phone right after their making full payment for the leasing contract. The program is applied throughout the nation.

Mobile chatting, 1,000 dongs for 1 hour

By using Vitalk chatting software developed by FPT Online, mobile users can chat and pay only 1,000 dongs for one-hour. The smartly-designed software with GRPS-based community connection is able to filter necessary information for more cost-saving and faster downloads. Your Vitalk and Yahoo Messenger friend lists will be saved to reduce the data access cost for the next log-in. Beside, users can stay online anywhere with GPRS/3G enabled or Wi-Fi connected by either Vitalk or Yahoo account. The average GPRS/3G charge on it is much cheaper than that of mobile sms service. It only costs them 50 to 150 dongs per 10KB of data (equal to 10,000 character) compared to 290 dongs per 160 characters of a normal sms. Vitalk facilitates your group chatting, friend making, status updating, and chatting by Yahoo Messenger account. Distributing HP Compaq 420

In August, FPT Distribution introduced the HP Compaq 420 for office use in Vietnam. This is the new generation of cheap laptop, which has been innovated to substitute the Compaq 510 series. Its cover is decorated with underlying fashionable and stylishly designed patterns. It is also embedded with functions that used to be installed for middle and premium MTXT office series only. These functions include water spill prevention and HP Spare Key-enabled- user authentication using three personal questions. Especially, its HP Support Assistant facilitates MTXT management and hardware maintenance through automatic tuning options. Beside the Compaq 420, HP has launched two other series namely Compaq 320 (13.3” wide screen) and Compaq 620 (15.6”) worth VND 11.9 million, 10 million and 11.1 million respectively.

Hot mobile- shocking price- 1,000 dongs only.

FPT IS to provide digital signature authentication service

On 10 August 2010, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hong of the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) granted FPT IS a license to provide public digital signature authentication services. This means FPT IS officially joins the digital signature market with its public digital signature confirmation system, FPT Certificate Authority (FPT-CA) . Accordingly, FPT IS will provide three kinds of digital certificate including: Digital certificate for agencies, organizations, and individuals to help users authenticate electronic transactions such as internet banking, online stock trading, tax declarations, and online customs documents; Digital SSL certificate to endorse websites and Code Signing Digital certificate for software manufacturers to certify and ensure the integrity of their products . FPT IS’s participation in the digital certificate market will promote the development and application of digital signature authentication in e-trading activities in Vietnam.

FPT shared its strategies to success

On 8 August, CEO Nguyen Thanh Nam of the FPT Group attended the Vietabroader Business Seminar held at the National Conference Center. Upon discussing on the “Strategies of successful enterprises”, he shared FPT’s vision and strategies, in which the “for e-Citizen” has been considered a future forecast. In the context of moderate development of information technology in Vietnam, it is an opportunity for enterprises and FPT is striving to realize this strategy. Responding to the question about the role of creativity and innovation in business, Mr. Nam said: “ from the reality in FPT, it can be said that the young human resources and the determination to maximize strengths and minimize weaknesses have brought success to the Group”.

Vietabroader Business Seminar was organized by the UK-based Vietnamese oversea students Association and VietAbroader, a non-profit organization managed by Vietnamese students studying in the U.S. The seminar was also attended by Mr. Vu Khoan- former Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam, Ms. Ton Nu Thi Ninh- former president of Foreign Affairs Division, National Assembly of Vietnam, and Ms. Pham Chi Lan- former vice chairwoman of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and many successful young entrepreneurs nationwide.

Po Ko suspending bridge inaugurated

The construction of the Po Ko bridge sponsored by VnExpress readers and the FPT Group officially commenced on morning 4 August. The detailed location of the bridge in Dak Sut hamlet of Dak Ang commune was determined by FPT Land’s engineers after three surveys. It is about ten kilometers far from the dangerous hanging cable local people use to glide themselves over the river. The project to build Dak Sut bridge is invested by the People Committee of Ngoc Hoi district and monitored by FPT Land . In the initial design, the Dak Sut suspending bridge is 120 meters long, 1.2 meter wide with total cost of VND 2.2 billion and is constructed within two months and a half . The FPT Group contributed nearly VND 824 million for the construction of the bridge.

FPT IS’s task force on cloud-computing established

On 4 August, FPT IS CEO Duong Dung Trieu signed the decision on establishing a task force to study and develop cloud-computing technology in accordance with the Group’s assignment. Accordingly, FPT IS Infrastructure Center is responsible for management and implementation of cloud- computing projects. The project team plays as the contact point with Trend Micro, and Microsoft who have signed agreements with FPT in this area. The task force members are required to fully understand at least (but not limited to) the cloud-computing technologies developed by these vendors. They will cooperate with other FPT members such as FPT Telecom, FPT Software, and FPT Information Technology Department to experiment cloud solutions and IaaS and SaaS services. The task force will also research and develop FPT cloud-related-services FPT IS would offer to clients. FPT IS expects to spend some of its R&D fund to develop the cloud.
