FPT’s pre-tax profit reach VND 2,052 billion, up 5% after 10 months

Pre-tax profit reached VND 2,052 billion, increasing by 5% compared to the same period in 2012 and completing 102% of the 10-month plan, equal to 78% of the year plan. Profit-after-tax was VND 1,701 billion and profit-after-tax of holding company was VND 1,267 billion, respectively increasing 6% and 4% compared to the same period of the prior year, completing 77% and 75% of plan for the entire year. Earning per share (EPS) was VND 4,617, an increase of 3% compared to the same period last year.

Technology and Telecommunication accounted for the most proportion in the profit pie with 76%. Technology-related businesses include Software, System Integration and IT Services, the cumulative progressive turnover and profit of which increased by 21% and 16%, respectively. Telecommunication businesses including internet services and digital content grew by 10% in revenue and 12% in profit.

By the end of October, the contracts of software solutions, system integration and IT services were valued at VND 2,415 billion, an increase of 31 % compared to the same period in 2012. With newly-signed contracts in last two months, FPT has gradually completed the plan for 2013, paving the way for implementation of the business plan in 2014.

CEO of FPT meet and work with major U.S. companies

From 9 to 12 October, in the framework of the 5th anniversary of the establishment of FPT Software in the U.S., CEO of FPT Mr. Bui Quang Ngoc had meetings with senior leaders of giants such as Freescale, Halliburton and DirecTV. Other participants included Chairman of FPT Software Mr. Hoang Nam Tien and Director of FPT Software in the U.S. (FPT USA) Mr. Bui Hoang Tung. This shows commitments and expectations of FPT leadership and FPT Corp in the U.S. market.

At the meetings, Mr. Bui Quang Ngoc and the leaders of FPT Software introduced the orientations for strategic development of FPT in general and ones in the U.S. market in particular as well as had discussions about cooperation opportunities between the two sides, especially in new technology trends such as Mobility, Cloud and Big Data.

Founded in 2008, FPT USA is the only Vietnamese software firm to open the 100 % domestic capital investment company in this market.

Currently, FPT USA has possessed 4 representative offices in 4 major U.S. centers including California, New York, Texas and Washington. In March 2013, FPT opened an R & D center in the U.S. to get better access to customers. In 2010-2012 period, the growth rate of FPT USA's revenue reached 65 % per year. Expectedly, it will gain 70 % by 2013.

FPT open third office in Japan

FPT Japan under FPT Software has officially opened a new office in the city of Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.

The new office is planned to contribute 10-15% to the whole revenue of FPT Japan by 2017. This is the 3rd office of FPT Japan in Japan, following 2 offices in Tokyo and Osaka.

In last 3 years (2010-2012), the revenue from the Japanese market has always achieved average growth at 27.5%/year. It is expected to reach 40% by 2013.

In 2005, FPT Software established its legal status in Japan. Besides contributing most to FPT Software’s revenue (50%), Japan is one of the most important markets in the globalization strategy of the company.

FPT’s Data Center get international certification

Recently, Data Center EPZ in Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone (HCMC) under FPT Telecom has become the first data center in Vietnam to get Uptime Tier III certification of Uptime Institute, United States. With Uptime Tier III Certification for Data Center EPZ, Vietnam has become the 3rd country in Southeast Asia to get this prestigious certification, following Malaysia and Indonesia.

To achieve Uptime Tier III certification, Data Center EPZ under FPT Telecom underwent a series of rigorous evaluations of infrastructure design, operating procedures, design process and troubleshooting for one year. In particular, Data Center EPZ must ensure backups for systems of power, air conditioning, cable and UPS etc. Daily maintenance and technical support are also run under strict rules to enable the system to operate stably and safely 24/7.

Currently, FPT Telecom has 4 Data Centers including Data Center Van Bao (Ha Noi), Data Center Pham Hung (Hanoi), Data Center EPZ (HCMC) and Data Center QTS (HCMC).

FPT Telecom unveil app to watch TV online named FPT Play

FPT Telecom has unveiled FPT Play app on iOS and Android operating systems in order to meet demands of smart phone users interested in watching TV online. In addition to 47 channels from local and private TV stations throughout the country and international TV channels with diverse sports and entertainment content, Play FPT owns more than 1,600 videos to draw attention of viewers of all ages and sectors.

Launching the first Centralized IT Zone in Hanoi

Speaking at the granting ceremony of certificate to recognize Cau Giay Small Industrial & Handicraft Cluster as Centralized IT Zone on October 8, head of Ha Noi Department of Information and Communications Phan Lan Tu evaluated that the event would help attract foreign partners to work in the Capital. Also businesses have advantages in terms of brand when dealing with international counterparts.

“Cau Giay is considered the software center of the country. Thousands of programmers try their best to develop software industry and contribute more than VND 4, 000 billion to the state budget every year”, FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh stated. He proposed continuing investment to develop IT and make Cau Giay Centralized IT Zone become the first smart one in the country.

T he Cau Giay Centralized IT Zone is 8.35 hectares in size, located in Dich Vong Ward, Cau Giay District. It was established in July 2001. At present, there are 36 businesses operating stablely here.

AGREX - FPT launch the first BPO joint venture in Southeast Asia

The leading BPO company in Japan (Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, Stock Code: 4799) AGREX JSC under the IT Group Holdings Group (ITHD) and FPT Software under FPT Corporation officially announced the launching of the joint venture (JV) F - AGREX GLOBAL in Vietnam on 13 October 2013.

The JV has chartered capital of USD 2 million, 51 % of which is distributed by FPT Software and FPT Corporation and the remaining 49 % by AGREX and IT Holdings. F-AGREX will benefit from AGREX’s extensive experience in nearly 50 years implementing BPO services and FPT Software in managing large software projects and working with Japanese partners for the past fifteen years to deliver high quality BPO services at competitive cost in Japanese market.

It is expected that the JV will start providing BPO services with a focus on data entry professionals for Japanese businesses in December 2013. In the future, the JV will provide not only BPO services for Japanese enterprises but also a range of BPO-related services such as full service to meet needs of customers in Vietnam (an open market in the future) and other ASEAN countries.

Inaugurating FPT Document Services Company

On October 13, FPT Document Services (FDS) was established. It will specialize in Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) services such as accounting, payroll and bank account opening and credit personal loans. As these processes do not require high professionals but productivity and accuracy, large organizations tend to have all or part of them deployed.

FPT Software has more than 180 customers globally and is expected to gain about USD100 million in revenue by 2013. These are also potential customers of FDS during startup. It will focus on the U.S. and Europe. Currently, outsourcing of the U.S. was valued at USD 93 billion in 2011 and has achieved steady growth of nearly 8 % per year. In Europe, it was priced at USD48 billion with a growth of 8 % per year.

FPT Software celebrate 10-year collaboration with Nissen and NUL

FPT Software celebrated its 10th anniversary of partnership with Nissen and NUL (Nihon Unisys) on October 23 in Hanoi. Nissen and NUL (Nihon Unisys) are large and important customers of FPT Software. Through this event, the both sides desire to show their mid-term to long-term business strategies, as well as express determination to strengthen overseas development in the future.

Currently, Nissen has owned a development center in Hanoi (FSU11.BU3) and a maintenance center in Da Nang (FSU11.BU10). With approximately 100 regular employees, Nissen reaches stable revenues of about USD 3 million a year.

After their 10-year collaboration, Nissen, FPT and NUL, which is entrusted Nissen’s whole IT sector, are planning long-term strategic partnership for more 10 years and 20 years for Nissen’s IT system, helping it increase competitive advantages and grow sustainably in the coming years.

System Integration 

FPT cooperate comprehensively with Nghe An in IT

On October 6, there was the signing ceremony of “memorandum of strategic cooperation on ICT development in Nghe An during 2013-2020” between the People's Committee of Nghe An province and FPT Corp. CEO of FPT Bui Quang Ngoc and Chairman Nguyen Xuan Duong signed the memorandum.

This strategic partnership aims at helping the province of Nghe An gradually possess an advanced model of science and technology applications.

Currently, the development of telecommunications infrastructure, Internet and IT applications in Nghe An has made great progress. In the province, there are also a number of businesses offering services of hardware , software and digital content. With these results, the availability of IT applications in Nghe An is increasing when it is ranked the 7 ^th among 63 provinces and cities nationwide.

Deploying first IT project on credit professional in Vietnam

On October 18, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), FPT IS and DP Information Network signed a deal to implement a data management system for the Credit Information Center (CIC).

The project aims at assisting SBV to bring key functions in line with international standards by developing a centralized and integrated system of advanced business processes and modern information technology architecture.

It is to help CIC build a centralized data storage of loans of credit institutions and individuals nationwide, develop products and services to enhance risk management of SBV and credit institutions, construct a sustainable IT infrastructure as well as strengthen its HR capacity.

As planned, the project will be implemented within 14 months from November 2013 to December 2014. It is also the first large-scale IT project in Vietnam relating to credit professional.

Mobile startup opportunity

FPT Aptech has launched the program "Mobile Plus Programmer" with the initial goal of training 1,000 mobile programmers to meet human demand of software enterprises. Under this program, students not only acquire knowledge and skills in programming but also study in-depth mobile platforms such as Application Programming on Android, iOS and Windows Phone. FPT Aptech students are learning in modern classrooms with high-quality lecturers.

Attending this training program, students will promote a comprehensive UI/UX design skill for mobile and study on agile software development process. FPT University students have opportunity to study in Taiwan

On October 4, Institute of International Education under FPT University announced the student exchange program with National Taipei University of Technology - Taipei Tech in 2014. This is the first time FPT University organized the exchange program for its students in Taiwan. The program is designed for FPT students studying the third professional semester or more at Fall 2013 term. The first program only accepts 2 candidates.

To learn at Taipei Tech, students need to gain the academic score and the professional English score of 7.0 or higher and the movement score of 75/100 or higher. Student must pay fees of air tickets, visa, insurance and other costs incurred during study in Taiwan. Like the student exchange programs in some other prestigious universities FPT University has deployed, students do not pay tuition but still have to complete their financial obligations at FPT University.

FPT invests VND400 billion in hi-tech park

On November 4, the management authority of Saigon Hi-tech Park ( SHTP) granted an investment certificate to establish a training and research center to FPT Software Technology Center. The center will be located at Lot E2a - II - The Science Space of Hi-Tech Park with total investment of VND 400 billion.

The project aims to train high-quality human resources for research activities and technology transfer in the information technology sector. The project will also train human resources for enterprises operating in the park.

Expectedly, the center will become one of the top units to make contribute to the training of high-tech human r esource and high-tech researches in order to meet growing demand of HCMC and its neighbors. Accordingly, FPT University planned to arrange adequate human, material and financial resources to implement the project.

On the morning of October 2, Representative of the Artillery Command Major-General Nguyen Van Con handed over 5 hectares of land to FPT University (FU) for the 2nd phase of construction in the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park (Hanoi).

FPT shop run in Bac Giang

On October 17, FPT Shop system officially run the first store in Bac Giang at No. 2 Xuong Giang, Tran Phu Ward, Bac Giang city.

On the opening day, FPT Shop earned more than VND 519 million in revenue. This was considered a good impetus for FPT Shop in Bac Giang to develop, with the goal of providing technology products at reasonable prices with best services to local people.

Bac Giang is located on the Nanning (China)- Lang Son - Hanoi - Haiphong economic corridor and adjacent to the northern key economic region covering Hanoi, Haiphong and Quang Ninh. These should be very favorable for economic development and cultural exchange with countries in the region.
