FPT’s pre-tax profit reach VND 2,246 billion, up 5% after 11 months

Pre-tax profit reached VND 2,246 billion, increasing by 5% compared to the same period in 2012 and completing 99% of the 11-month plan, equal to 85% of the year plan. Profit-after-tax was VND 1,862 billion and profit-after-tax of holding company was VND 1,385 billion, respectively increasing 4% and 2% compared to the same period of the prior year, completing 84% and 82% of plan for the entire year. Earning per share (EPS) was VND 5,049, an increase of 1% compared to the same period last year.

Technology and Telecommunication accounted for the most proportion in the profit pie with 76%. Technology-related businesses include Software, System Integration and IT Services, the cumulative progressive turnover and profit of which increased by 19% and 8%, respectively. Telecommunication businesses including internet services and digital content grew by 10% in revenue and 14% in profit.

FPT Software open new headquarters

On November 13, the opening ceremony of FPT Software ’s new office building is held at Hoa Lac High-Tech Park, Thach That district , Ha Noi.

The ceremony is held to mark the 20-year dream of a “software village" named FPT of Chairman Truong Gia Binh into reality as well as effort of all FPT Software’s employees to make the dream come true.

In particular, the ceremony brings an opportunity to tighten the Vietnam-Japan friendship and traditional relations on the occasion of 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between two countries (September 21, 1973 – September 21, 2013). Many activities to celebrate this special event will be conducted in the framework of FPT's opening ceremony.

Moreover, the ceremony also helps promote stable and cooperative long-term relationship between FPT Software and Japanese customers, towards the celebration of 10 years of cooperation between the two sides.

As expected by the organizers, there will be about 200 participants in the ceremony including representatives of the Embassy of Japan, the Government of Vietnam, FPT senior leaders, FPT Software’s Japanese customers and FPT staffs.

In particular, Charge d'affaires at the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam Hideo Suzuki and Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Quan will deliver speeches at the opening ceremony.

The artistic cultural activities of the ceremony will highlight the Vietnam-Japan friendship.

FPT IS and LogNet Systems to bring modern billing solution

LogNet Systems, the provider of the Modern Billing solutions for service providers worldwide, and FPT Information System (FPT IS) announced that the two companies formed a global partnership to integrate LogNet Systems’ MaxBill solution for Modern Billing into FPT IS’ portfolio of OSS/BSS solutions.

The two companies would cooperate on billing solutions for telecommunications, electricity, water and other utilities. Other areas of cooperation included marketing, sales and project deployment and support activities.

FPT Polytechnic help youth with early startup

FPT Polytechnic has decided to deploy an early career program, under which graduates from secondary schools can study more 3 years to get vocational certificates, or 4 years to get full-time vocational college certificates.

Called "9 +4", this program derives from the fact that the Vietnamese youth begin your startup more lately than the world’s youth due to levels of education as well as late career orientation.

According Dean of FPT University Le Truong Tung, the career separation under the 9 +4 model would help solve social psychology of flocking to universities, ease inter- college and reduce time for startup.

Attending the 9 +4 program, students will be trained skills and professional expertise which enable them to work immediately as well as follow the inter- university program lasting 1.5-2 years.

The head of FPT University said that 9 +4 model was being applied in many countries. Annually, recruiters accept the 9^th-grade students to learn at Polytechnic in Singapore under this model.

It is expected that the 9+4 program will be deployed in 2014. Accordingly, graduates of secondary school can follow the flexible model without further education. After 3 years, students can get vocational certificates and if studying another year, they will be granted full-time vocational college certificates. Under this program, students will learn 4 high school subjects as well as be apprenticed to receive high school diplomas required by the Ministry of Education and Training.

The sectors such as software testing and programmer are expected to train. Students will be introduced jobs after graduation. Tuition of FPT Polytechnic is about VND4 million per semester. Tuition of the 9 +4 program may be equivalent or less.

FPT invest in English center chain

CEO of FPT Bui Quang Ngoc has just signed a decision approving the development project of English training center chain of FPT Education Co., Ltd (FPT GEM English) with an initial capital of VND 20 billion in the first year. Earlier, Chairman of FPT University Le Truong Tung decided to establish FPT GEM English.

This system will offer high-quality English teaching programs to students aged from 7 to 13, developing experience-based learning methods.

Accordingly, FPT GEM English will use smart technology in education, first applied to English subject in order to change teaching methods and learning models under constructivism as well as provide good opportunities to learn English for the masses.

Unveiling smartphone FPT F55

FPT officially provide IBM PureFlex System

On 5 November 2013, FPT Distribution Company (FDC) became an official provider of IBM's integrated infrastructure solution, PureFlex, in the Vietnamese market. Thus, FDC secures rights to distribute the entire software & hardware products and services of IBM in Vietnam.

PureFlex System is the future technology trend towards cost-effective and comprehensive solutions, then reaching Big Data, Smart Cloud and virtualized IT infrastructure. The PureFlex System merges storage, networking and management capabilities into one infrastructure system, aiming to enhance the connection between servers and increase the capacity for storage, processing and information security.

FDC will put the solution on sale in the Vietnamese market with 2 versions. Version 1 offers IBM's full hardware solution including servers, storage and networking systems and uniform management service. Version 2 o ffers a solution package of hardware, virtualization components and operating systems on the forms available for customers (customized according to their needs).

FPT Telecom sponsor ViOlympic

Following the success of "V-Olympic companion program" last year, FPT Telecom officially sponsors ViOlympic in academic year 2013 – 2014 and continues to deploy a series of companion programs for over 63 secondary schools in 21 provinces nationwide with a total value of up to VND500 million.

FPT Telecom will host offline games simulating test forms of ViOlympic in order to help pupils get accustomed to actual exams as well as improve such required skills as work group, fast calculation without calculators etc.

After the final entry winning rounds to be held in schools, districts, provinces and cities, students from all corners of the country will enter the national level contest. The national level contest is expected to be held on April 25, 2014 for fifth, ninth and twelfth grade students. The Ministry will set up a scientific council to design the examination questions.

The first program will be held in Phu Tho province on November 22, 2013 with the participation of students from Van Lang secondary school, Lam Thao secondary school and Phong Chau secondary school. Then, it will take place in provinces from North to South within 2 months (November 2013 - January 2014) namely Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Hanoi, Nghe An, Da Nang, Binh Thuan, Khanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City etc.

At each local contest, teams will compete to gain prizes including the first prize for whole team worth VND 2.5 million, the second prize worth VND 1 million; the third place worth VND 500,000. Members of winning team will be awarded gifts of the sponsor comprising merits, shirts, backpacks and helmets.

In 2008, in response to “Promote IT application to education” scheme , Ministry of Education and Training along with FPT Corp organized the Math Contest via Internet named ViOlympic for primary and secondary students . FPT IS win first prize in eAsia Award

In the morning of November 29, FPT Information System Company (FPT IS) was granted the first prize in eAsia Award by the Asia Pacific Council for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (AFACT) at the Rex Hotel in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

Accordingly, FPT IS’s project to build and implement the electronic clearance system for the Vietnam Customs under the category of e-commerce application for public services is one of six typical projects of Vietnam honored at this conference.

“The award reaffirms position and experience of FPT IS in the field of electronic services in general and e-customs in particular”, Deputy Director of FPT IS FSE Mr. Tran Phong Chau stated.

E-Customs project has been deployed from 2005 to 2013 with the aim of building and upgrading the system, expanding electronic customs processing toward modernizing processing procedure as well as IT infrastructure of the customs sector.

With their deep professional understanding and experience in implementing the IT project for Vietnam Customs during 1995-1996, FPT IS’s engineers designed the optimal electronic clearance system, which is open to be easily upgraded and integrated with other systems.

By August 2013, there have been 135 sub-departments across Vietnam to run the system, 40,190 businesses to use e-customs procedures (accounting for 94.6 %) and 2,488 million returns (reaching 90.6 %).
