FPT’s revenue up 26% after 5 months

After first five months, FPT earned total revenue of VND 12,320 billion, increasing by 26% compared to the same period last year and finishing 110% of the 5-month plan. Pre-tax profit reached VND 999 billion, increasing by 3% compared to the same period in 2013 and completing 106% of the 5-month plan.

Profit-after-tax was VND 817 billion and profit-after-tax of holding company was VND 615 billion, increasing 4% compared to the same period of the prior year. Earning per share (EPS) was VND 1,787.

Global strategy of FPT got the good result. After 5 months, the revenue from foreign markets reached VND 1,100 billion, up 19% compared to the same period in 2013, equivalent to USD 52 million. The Corp expected to gain USD 340 million in revenue from global markets by 2016 through self-development and M&A.

On June 18, FPT won the first M & A of FPT in particular and of Vietnam’s IT sector in general as FPT Software acquired RWE IT Slovakia, a subsidiary of the RWE Group - one of Europe’s leading utility companies.

With this deal, FPT also won 5-year-contract with RWE Group. RWE became the biggest customer of FPT Software in Europe.

The deal will position FPT as a 1st tier service provider in Europe, paving the way to expand their customer base, strengthen delivery capabilities at Europe and adding about 400 experienced consultants in SAP area.

Vietnam’s IT sector and unlimited opportunities from SMAC

On May13 and 16, more than 300 technology experts inside and outside the country participated in Technology Day themed SMAC in Hanoi and HCM. The trend named "SMAC" is offering unlimited growth opportunities to IT companies in general and FPT in particular.

According to the SMAC predictions by IDG and Gartner from 2015 to 2016, Social will attract 2.18 billion users and get USD 34 billion in revenue. Mobility will increases the number of mobile device users to 1.3 billion with two billion connected devices as well as earn USD 735 billion in revenue. There will be a shortage of 4.4 million Big Data engineers and the field will bring about the total revenue of USD 232 billion. Cloud will reach 207 billion in revenue.

In Vietnam, FPT is considered one of pioneers in SMAC. In 2013, it was the first time FPT earned the revenue from SMAC, VND 95 billion. It is expected that FPT’s revenue from SMAC services will reach over VND 800 billion by 2016, accounting for over 10% of global revenue.

On May 28, Vice General Director of Global Expansion of FPT Corporation Duong Dung Trieu and newly-appointed CEO of FPT IS Pham Minh Tuan had the exchange with students of Hanoi University of Technology (HUT).

FPT participate in World Economic Forum on East Asia in Philippines

Attending WEF on East Asia 2014, FPT met governmental officials as well as major partners and customers in the region. At the same time, FPT also introduced itself to customers through seminars and bilateral meetings.

World Economic Forum on East Asia 2014 was themed "Leveraging Growth for Equitable Progress”. This year’s meeting explored the following areas: Achieving Equitable Progress; Advancing Models for Sustainable Growth; Realizing Regional Connectivity.

WEF on East Asia is one of the four world economic forums on regions (East Asia, Africa, Latin America and Middle East) of the WEF. It is annually held to strengthen and expand economic relations among countries in the region and between the East Asian countries and other regions in the world.

FPT Software officially commercialize Eduprove

On May 21st, FPT Software and Hitachi signed a business contract and released a university management software named Eduprove.

Hitachi has successfully implemented Eduprove with the name of Uniprove in 18 universities of Japan. With the desire to develop this software in other markets, the company decided to choose FPT Software to transfer the right to develop and commercialize software in Vietnam.

Eduprove was developed based on the strategic cooperation agreement between FPT Software and Hitachi signed in early 2012. Accordingly, FPT Software is the only Vietnamese firm to have rights to localize the content, customize features according to demands of domestic customers as well as commercialize the software in the Vietnamese market.

Integration System

FPT IS provides core banking system for SBV

On May 15, the signing ceremony of the contract for the package SG 3.1 "Core Banking, Applications of Accounting, Budget and Integration System for the State Bank of Vietnam" took place

The package is part of a project to modernize the State Bank funded by the World Bank, with a total investment of USD 71.83 million. The package is carried out by international bidding process worth nearly USD 9 million.

The project named SG3.1 will be implemented for the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) within 24 months from June 2014. After being finished, the package SG 3.1 will provide a core banking system with copyright, a financial management system, a budgeting system according to international standards for State Banks.

FPT IS win UK award for innovative business service

FPT IS became Vietnam's first firm to win a global award for innovative business service under Global Telecoms Business - GTB Innovation Awards

FPT IS won this prestigious award thanks to FPT IS’s project on modern billing and streamlined service delivery operations for Lao Telecommunications Company (LTC).

The solution helps FPT IS gain nearly US$14 million in revenue from international markets, accounting for nearly 40 percent of the telecommunications software’s total earnings in all of the company’s markets so far.

The solution by FPT IS confirmed capacity and quality of IT in Vietnam and Southeast Asia in the international arena.

FPT Telecom upgrade Broadband Internet services to highest level

In May, FPT Telecom started to upgrade Broadband Internet services for clients in 57 provinces and cities with unchanged freight.

At present, FPT Telecom offers 3 packages of Mega Save – 3Mbps, Mega You – 6Mbps, Mega Me – 8Mbps. After the upgrading, there will be Mega Save - 5 Mbps, Mega You - 8 Mbps and Mega Me - 10 Mbp.

The upgrade process will be implemented in three phases, the 1st phase for 15 major provinces and cities, the 2nd phase for 25-30 provinces, and the 3rd for all remaining provinces.

FPT to launch MOBA game named Anh Hung Tam Quoc

FPT has urgently completed the remaining items of the Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game Anh Hung Tam Quoc. It is expected to release the game in a short time.

More than 1,700 outstanding pupils receive certificate of merit

On May 23rd, Ministry of Education and Training, Vinh Phuc Department of Education and Training and FPT University held "Maths Contest via Internet Vi-Olympic" 2013-2014 in Northern region.

After 19 rounds at levels of school, district, province and nation, Vice Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Vinh Hien signed the decision to honor 1,708 students.

In academic year 2013 - 2014, Maths Contest via Internet Vi-Olympic was successful with 13 million members. The school-level Vi-Olympic was attended by 678,541 students, up 37 % compared with 2013 while the district- level competition was joined by 257,579 student. Although Maths program in English was launched for fourth and eighth grade students for the first time, up to 1.3 million students registered and 21,000 contestants joined the school-level contest.

Officially launched in 2008, with only 800,000 participants, far after 6 years of development, ViOlympic has attracted more than 13 million members and become a become a common playing field for students across the nation love Math. ViOlympic also opens up a new direction for the application of information technology in schools to elicit nurturing potential and passion for math students.
