Nguyen Minh Tien, an outstanding badminton player from Vietnam , will play for the Vietnamese team. It is expected to attract 2,000 spectators, including representatives from the Vietnamese Government, the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, the Vietnam Badminton Federation, the Japan Badminton Association, the Hanoi People’s Committee, the Committee for Sports and Physical Training, the national badminton team, Vietnamese software companies and the IT University.
“This is the first time Vietnam ’s badminton team has played in a friendly match with the badminton club of a foreign IT company,” said the Deputy Secretary of the Vietnam Badminton Federation. “The tournament shows the goodwill in co-operation and development between Vietnam and Japan , not only in the IT sector but also in sports. The Vietnam Badminton Federation hopes that activities such as this will become an annual event, which can be organized either in Vietnam or Japan .”
“Badminton is a popular sport in Vietnam , so the Unisys Badminton Club, who was crowned champions of the Japanese League in 2005 and 2006, wants to play in a friendly match with Vietnam ’s national team. Through this activity we hope to attract the attention of the public, contributing to strengthening Vietnam – Japan relations, especially in the software sector,” said Mr Yokomizo, Director of USOL Vietnam.
With the slogan “IT serves people and society”, USOL Vietnam was established on 1 June 2006 in Hanoi , operating in the field of software development for Nihon Unisys. As a partner of FPT Corporation in producing software, USOL Vietnam, with a staff of 113, hopes to contribute to the development of Vietnam ’s IT sector.
