Hanoi National University and FPT Corporation to build OpenBOOK Vietnam
Hanoi, 13th March 2011 - Hanoi National University and FPT Corporation signed cooperation agreement to build OpenBOOK Vietnam for technology training, research and application for social development of Vietnam.

The OpenBOOK is expected to provide about 200,000 books and documents for users within the next three years. After completing the first phase, the OpenBOOK shall serve users inside and outside the University for free. Users can easily access Internet-based and mobile-based documents for their study, teaching and research purposes.
Prof. Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan, Director of Hanoi National University said: “OpenBOOK will contribute to digitalizing existing academic materials to enable lecturers and students and other parties to access knowledge stores more easily. This is an issue attracting the most concern from the education sector.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam, CEO of FPT said: “As an ICT corporation, FPT wishes to create favourable environment and tools to facilitate knowledge and new technology wide spread throughout the community. This is one of key programs to be implemented by FPT in coming years to connect and share knowledge through technology application”.
Hanoi National University will provide library team to provide proper information categorization and organization and cooperate with FPT to develop solution and technology; provide selective product and service consultation for users; design content for the OpenBOOK (excluding author right matters); provide fully licensed documents for free and support IT infrastructure (server and storage systems).
FPT also sponsors technology and IT infrastructure for data storage and transmission of the OpenBOOK.
The OpenBOOK will utilize information resources of Hanoi National University and other domestic and international information systems and libraries to provide diversified references and create more values for users. The OpenBOOK allows connection with other services based on an open mechanism with certain limitation according to laws on author right.
