Jones and Bartlett Publishers wishes to cooperate with FPT University

Annually, J&B Publishers published about 400 book titles relating to fields such as Computer Science, Biology, Health Science, Multimedia, Graphics… Mr. Benjamin Ho wished that J&B could become a book supplier for FPT University. Mr. Benjamin Ho also brought with him some book samples for FPT University to have a look at.

FPT University is the first Vietnamese university that J&B Publishers have worked with. Previously, this publisher cooperated with Xunhasaba – Vietnam National Corporation for the Export and Import of Books, Periodicals and other Cultural Commodities, and Fahasa – Vietnam Book Distribution Corporation.

FPT University ’s students are currently using 100% copyrighted books imported from abroad on the basis of the international standard ACM. Most of these books have been imported from the U.S.A.’s prestigious publishers, such as: Mc Graw Hill, Pearson, Cengage Thomson, John Wiley & Son…

Ms. Nguyen Kim Anh – Vice-Rector of FPT University and Head of Curriculum Research and Development Board – said: “In addition to the application of ACM standard, FPT University has also chosen books basing on practical needs at companies of FPT Corporation. Apart from those two requirements, the coursebooks must be in English. FPT University gives priority to the publishers who provide coursebooks with supporting resources for teachers and students and used by many universities in the world. Prices and updating rates are considered as well.”

In the case of J&B Publishers, the Curriculum Research and Development Board of FPT University is considering to come to a decision. FPT University has also shown the wish for an opportunity of bilateral cooperation in the forthcoming time.

FPT University and the Library Center of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, have recently signed an agreement of library exchange. In accordance with this agreement, both parties will develop, share the information resources to improve the quality and diversify the reader-serving capacity. This is one of the efforts of FPT University to improve the library quality to bring about more benefits for students.

Besides, in the exchange meeting with FPT University’s students, Mr. Nguyen Canh Binh – the Director as well as the founder of AlphaBooks Joint Stock Company, gave FPT University a bookcase as a present, which included 100 book titles about soft skills for teaching and learning this subject at the university.

As scheduled, AlphaBooks Joint Stock Company and FPT University will extend their cooperative relationship through the supply of books for courses in soft skills for high-school students that FPT University is organizing as well as the cooperation to publish books about soft skills.

The assurance and choice of sources of coursebooks and reference books for students have always been specially paid attention to and cared about by the leaders of FPT University to improve the teaching and learning quality in accordance with international standards.
