Launching 7th ViOlympic Contest

On September 12, FPT Corporation and FPT University in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training held a launching ceremony of the 7th Violympic Math Contest Online - ViOlympic 2014 at Luong The Vinh Primary School, HCMC.

Director of FPT HCM cum CSR Manager of FPT Corporation Mrs. Truong Thanh Thanh, FU’s Rector Le Truong Tung, along with some representatives from departments of education in Southern provinces participated in the launching ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Director of Secondary Education Nguyen Xuan Thanh, Director of FPT HCM cum CSR Manager of FPT Corporation Truong Thanh Thanh, FU’s Rector Le Truong Tung, Deputy General Director of FPT Telecom Chu Hung Thang, representatives from BAOVIET LIFE, Departments of Education and Training, primary, secondary and high schools in the Southern region.

This year, the ViOlympic will be renovated in its interface while exams are given according to students’ capabilities in order to improve their learning and essential skills. Besides online tests, FPT Telecom and BAOVIET LIFE will organize various companion programs and ViOlympic summer camp to help students practice math learning skills as well as soft skills. In particular, it is the first time that the Math contest in English has been held for students in 5th and 9th grade from school to province levels.

ViOlympic 2014-2015 is divided into 19 rounds at levels including freedom, school, district, province and country. The contest consists of 9 basic types of test through fun games such as arranging, finding same pairs, completing calculations and overcoming obstacles etc.

According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thanh, after 6 years, ViOlympic has been attended by 13 million members, spreading to 673 districts and 61 provinces/cities nationwide. Every day there are about 45000-50000 new members on www.violympic.vn website while over 45,000 students take exams successfully.

After Ho Chi Minh City, the Organizers will continue to implement launching ceremonies in Hanoi on September 26 and Thua Thien - Hue on October 3.
