Launching the Chim en (Swift) award 2010

Candidates of the Chim en award 2010 include individuals and organizations without independent legal entity, which have been proactively involving in activities for community development and beneficiaries within the Vietnamese territory via self nomination or nomination. Application acceptance and community’s assessment shall last until 10^th June, 2010.

“There will be changes in the rules of the Chim en award 2010, accordingly each fifteen organization and individual candidates shall enter the third ground for examination, five and ten of which shall be nominated by the judging board and the community respectively via the website http://vicongdong.vn. After the third ground, the judging board shall select five organizations and five individuals to honour” said Ms. Dao Thi Hue Chi, organization board member.

In addition, the Chim en award 2010 shall focus on organization of actual activities to raise up the charity and voluntary meaning of the award and, at the same time, to share experiences and connect activities conducted across the nation. With the message “Chim en 2010- Lifting the wing of charity and volunteer”, volunteer clubs throughout the nation have carried out a number of events in answer to the launching ceremony of the Chim en award 2010 .

These events include:

- 11/04/2010: the program “ Lighting the dreams” was held by the Southern Vietnamese Volunteers in Dong Nai province. .

- 17/04/2010: the sum-up meeting of the project “ I understand- We act” in Bac Ninh (CLB 350VYP – Vietnamese Youth’s Environment Project) .

- 17/04/2010 - 18/04/2010: the environmental education programs named “the friendly school” for children and “company with the treasures” for adolescent were held by Kim Chi Nam club in Hue city .

- 18/04/2010: the bicycle tournament “ Le tour de Fsoft ” – the journey of history in Hanoi .

- 18/04/2010: the volunteer program in answer to the Vietnam’s day of the paralyses in Can Tho city (Bon Phuong club- Can Tho university) .

- 19/04/2010 - 23/04/2010 the 3rd “ green temple of King Hung” program shall be carried out by Vietnam’s volunteer club .

- 25/04/2010: Together with the community to eliminate harmful bindweed in Son Tra peninsula, Da Nang (“For the sea” club- Da Nang City) .

The Chim en award was first held in 2009 which attracted the attention and attendance of numerous individuals and voluntary groups in the nation with nearly 200 applications to select five typical awardees of each categories. This year, the award continues with the participation of the Second runner of Miss Vietnam 2008 Nguyen Thuy Van as the award envoy and Dan Tri e-newspaper as the information sponsor .

The Chim en award is an annual event to honour organizations and individuals of outstanding voluntary and charity activities. The program is not only the recognition and honour of their efforts for the community but also an opportunity to meet and share the information, to ignite and widespread the voluntary spirit of the kind-hearted to the community. The Chim en is also the chance for volunteer and charity groups to improve their prestige and image, facilitating the growth and development of their organizations .
