Launching the first Mobile Robot Challenge competition

With the theme “programming Android-based mobile application to control a robot”, the first Mobile Robot Challenge by FPT Technology Research Institute has brought the IT and Telecommunications students an unprecedented opportunity to research and practice the latest mobility technology.

The launching ceremony was organized on June 22 on the 13th floor, FPT Cau Giay Building in Hanoi, attracting the participation of 10 teams from six universities including Hanoi University of Science and Technology, University of Technology, Hanoi Teaching University, FPT University, Hanoi Natural Science University, Institute of Post and Telecommunications and FPT Technology Center for Young Talents (FYT).

The purposes, regulation, award and available assistance for participating teams were introduced in details by the Organizer at the kick-off ceremony. Besides, the demonstration of Smartoshin robot attracted the attention of many students.

Tran The Trung, Director of FPT Technology Research Institute disclosed that the Mobile Robot Challenge 2013 aimed to create a play ground for students of Information Technology and Telecommunications. Through the competition, FPT also wished to boost the development of Cloud computing and Mobility on the platform of Smartoshin robot.

As planned, the ten team would be equipped with Android smart phone and VND 5 million to research and develop applications to run on the hardware platform of the Smartoshin robot. After a short training course in early July, the teams will enter the qualifying round in August to choose four best teams to the final ground, which was expected to take place at the end of September in Hoa Lac hi-tech park (Hanoi). The first, second and third runners would receive a prize worth VND 15 million, 10 million and 5 million, respectively.
