"FPT has turned many impossible things into possible ones. FPT engineers proved that the Vietnamese are not only hard-working but also brainy to offer outsourcing via high-tech engineering", Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son stated at the meeting with FPT Japan staff on July 8th.
In the framework of the visit to South Korea and Japan from June 30 to July 9, Minister Nguyen Bac Son and the delegation from FPT joined Japan ICT Investment Promotion Forum in Tokyo. On the same day, the Minister made a visit to FPT Japan.
Deputy Director of FPT Japan Tsutomu Hatakeyama presented the close relationship between Vietnam and Japan during more than 40 years of developing diplomatic relation. Japan is the main investment partner in Vietnam. 7% of large Japanese companies planned to invest in Vietnam in the next 2 years. Vietnam is becoming the major outsourcing center for 4 reasons: abundant human resources, stable politics, flourishing information and communication systems, good policing and a peaceful country. Deputy Director of FPT Japan had trust in FPT Japan’s opportunity as Japanese clients were looking for an outsourcing partner to gradually replace China which was becoming less attractive in terms of price.
In Japan, there were three great national-scale IT projects including "My number", "Power market liberalization ", "Olympiad Tokyo 2020" while many large commercial banks must to overhaul their outdated information system and the Japanese IT industry was facing the serious shortage of resources., The current rate of Japanese companies with serious lack of IT resources rose from 48% to 83% compared with five years ago. Grabbing this opportunity, FPT Software was aiming at USD 600 million in revenue from Japan by 2020.
Minister Nguyen Bac Son stated that FPT was very dynamic and responsive.
In order to obtain that figure, FPT needed to have at least 5,000 bridge system engineers (BrSE) fluent in Japanese. Although FPT 10K BrSE program was being run, the number of domestic BrSEs does not meet the program's input. Deputy Director of FPT Japan suggested that the Ministry of Information and Communication should hold vocational education activities to encourage students to join the field of ICT; Vietnam government should coordinate with the Japanese government to develop Japanese Business training programs and then applied them to universities and vocational schools; building HR training program associated with promoting new technology research namely BigData, Cloud Computing.
The head of Ministry of Information and Communication also highly appreciated FPT’s global expansion, not only in Japan but also in Singapore and Myanmar. FPT was always pioneer to approach markets and achieved remarkable results. "FPT has turned many impossible things into possible ones. FPT engineers proved that the Vietnamese are not only hard-working but also brainy to offer outsourcing via high-tech engineering ", said he.
According to the Minister, if Vietnam has many companies like FPT, the country's position will be enhanced. In particular, he highly appreciated FPT’s 10,000 BrSE project.
He expected that Deputy Director of FPT Japan Hatakeyama with two years of experience in two major Japanese companies would help FPT Japan increasingly grow and play role as a bridge between FPT Japan and many other Japanese firms.
