Ministry of Information and Communication recognizes FPT’s contribution to the Internet development in Vietnam
Vice President Chu Thanh Ha of FPT Corporation received the order of merit by Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) to recognize the company’s contribution to the Internet development of the country during the past fifteen years.

The ceremony to honor organizations and individuals who have made remarkable contribution to the country’s Internet development was organized by Vietnam Internet Association under the MIC’s sponsorship at Au Co Theatre, Huynh Thuc Khang, Hanoi on December 1, 2012.
Eight other enterprises including VNPT, Viettel, CMC, VNG, Netnam, Go.vn, VMG, IT Press Club and an individual were also honored upon this occasion.
The Internet service was officially provided in Vietnam on December 1, 1997. For fifteen years of development, it has evolved dramatically from dial-up to broad-band at a booming speed of growth.
Fifteen years ago, on January 31, 1997, FPT Online Exchange (former of FPT Telecom) was established. At that time, FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh believed that there would be no invention which impacts could be as profound and tremendous as the Internet on human race.
In 1998, FPT Telecom officially provided Internet service, rapidly accounting for 31 percent of market share and became the second largest Internet service provider in Vietnam.
After fifteen years, FPT Telecom has affirmed its position by providing a wide range of telecommunication services of high quality in Vietnamese market. It was granted with IXP, ISP, OSP, ICP licenses, the license to establish telecommunication network for broad-band Internet services and the license to build up network and provide telecommunication services…
Under the leadership of Truong Dinh Anh, FPT Telecom had become one of three most influential enterprises for the Internet development of Vietnam from 1997 to 2007 with average turnover growth rate of approximately 50% in five consecutive years.
In spite of short history compared to 60 years of VNPT, FPT Telecom has expanded its network coverage to almost the region of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and 46 provinces and cities across the nation.
The company continues to create and offer new services of best quality to serve the majority of its customers and to become the leading telecommunication company in Vietnam.
