Nhacso.net creates “Choir for Justice – to ease the pain of Agent Orange” fund

June 18th, 2008 nhacso.net website officially kick-started the “Choir for Justice – to ease the pain of Agent Orange” fund, calling for financial support for Vietnamese Agent Orange victims/dioxin on the one year anniversary of the “Choir for Justice” project.

One year ago, on June 17th 2007, the choir of 15-thousand people all over the world raised their voices simultaneously to the lyrics of the song “Vì sao em chết” [Why did my sister die?] by Thanh Truc, hoping to voice their support for the victims of the Agent Orange lawsuit with the US.

The program has continued to receive the support of millions over the world in the past year, registering 2,756,399 online choir-participants and 246,875 paper-cranes as of 3:00 PM (GMT+7) June 17th 2008 at www. dongcavicongly.vn .

Following the success of the program, the editors of nhacSO.net started the “Choir for Justice Fund”, calling for more financial support for Vietnamese Agent Orange/dioxin victims.

Aside from calling for monetary and tangible support from public and private organizations, and the masses, the editors of nhacSO.net have also enabled high-quality ring tones, wallpapers, and mp3s downloads of songs in the “Choir for Justice” program through its sole operator 8700. The sum collected from the “Choir For Justice Fund” will be donated to the Vietnamese Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin ( VAVA) quarterly.

To support the fund, simply send an SMS with the letters DCVCL and send to 8700. For every successful SMS, the donor will receive instructions to download any high-quality mp3s from the program’s website www. dongcavicongly.vn .

Donors can choose from 19 songs on the program’s website. Aside from the theme song “Why did my sister die?” by Thanh Trúc, sang by 47 different Vietnamese singers (available in orchestra, single, duet, trio, quartet, group and choir versions), other songs donated by writers are also available such as: Cây đàn da cam (Orange Guitar) (musician Thúy Hạnh – singer Trọng Tấn), Em không biết (I/S/HE didn’t know) (written and sang by Thế Hiển), Góp một bàn tay (A Helping Hand) (written and sang by overseas artist Hoàng Trang), Nỗi đau còn đó (The Pain Lingers) (artist Phạm Đăng Khương – singer Hồ Bích Ngọc and Tigon group), Nỗi đau mặt trời (The Pain of the Sun) (artist Vũ Quốc Bình – trio Nhật Tinh Anh, Khánh Ngọc, Lê Dũng)…

NhacSO.net has also established a Gate Passport to receive donations from gamers and users of FPT Online’s “virtual cash” (Gate cards).

Mr. Lương Công Hiếu, General Director of FPT Online says: “With over 2 million Gate accounts and widespread publicity among gamers of the 4 most popular online games in Vietnam: MU, PTV, Thiên Long Bát Bộ and Special Forces, we hope to receive large donations from this community”.

NhacSO.net has also collaborated with i360 Communication (www.360.vn) to better promote the participation of internet users and bloggers through application of advanced software that automatically optimize bloggers’ Yahoo! 360 interface.

“Our event last year received such attention due to the large support from internet users. This year, with this application, we hope to turn these communities into an effective advertising channel, thereby increasing the sum of donation” says Mr. Nguyễn Ngọc Long, Chief Editor of nhacSO.net.

Mr. Long also shared that the program’s website has been changed from www.dongcavicongly.com to www.dongcavicongly.vn for management purposes. However, the old website will still be up until June 2009.

Mr. Trần Xuân Thu – Vice Chairman, General Secretary of the VAVA says: “These activities and support help to assuage, in part, the pain of victims of Agent Orange. We, the VAVA, are sincerely grateful for the establishment of the fund, and are willing to cooperate in all activities”.
