Sony seeks further cooperation with FPT

The Sony delegation including Mr. Toshinori Nakamura, Country Manager of Sony Digital Network Application and Mr. Tomoyuki Morikawa led by Mr. Keiji Kimura, Vice Chairman of Sony Group visited FPT in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from 10th to 12th January.

Vice Chairman of Sony Group was impressed by Vovinam martial art practice and Japanese learning by students of FPT University, considering granting scholarship for them.

On behalf of FPT Corporation, Vice President Chu Thanh Ha, CTO Nguyen Lam Phuong, Vice Chairman Nguyen Thanh Nam and Vice Director Nguyen Xuan Phong of FPT University and Mr. Tran Thanh Hoa, R&D Manager of FPT Software , received the Sony delegation.

Vice President Chu Thanh Ha said: "FPT desires to be a strategic partner of Sony, building the relationship and trust between senior leadership of both companies. We wish to participate in the Sony’s distribution network in Vietnam, conduct joint R&D and training programs, and provide content for Smart TV digital platform and connection and storage solutions for Sony”.

Previously, FPT had signed partnership agreements with member companies of Sony Group in various industries. In December 2007, the company launched the first project with SDNA. In 2010, it began cooperation with Sony’s subsidiaries in computer applications, semi-conductor technology and smartphone and started programming applications for Vaio computer.

On January 10, the delegation visited FPT University in Hoa Lac, Hanoi, seeing its campus and visited Vovinam and Japanese classes.

The Vice Chairman of Sony Group paid special attention to the globalization strategy of FPT in general and FPT University in particular. He was also interested in the idea of a joint-training program with FPT Software to develop high quality human resources for Vietnamese market and considered sponsoring scholarship for FPT University students.
