“Swallow 2009” Award-Granting Ceremony
On June 28, 2009, the “Swallow 2009” Award-Granting Ceremony with the purpose of honoring individuals and groups with excellent activities for the community in 2008 took place in an exciting atmosphere full of voluntary charitable spirit.

The “Swallow 2009” Award-Granting Ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Dac Vinh, Ph.D, Assoc. Professor, Central Secretary of Vietnamese Youth Union, Mr. Nguyen Tien Trung, Head of NGO Department, Ministry of Home Affairs, representatives of social organizations, sponsors, information sponsors, as well as newspapers and the voluntary charitable community in Vietnam.
The participators’ documents had to go through 3 rounds: Short-list, online community voting at the website http://vicongdong.vn and the evaluation of the assessment council.
At the final round, representatives had to take part in deep interviews by the assessment council consisting of prestigious experts in social activities.
Candidates in the Central and Southern parts of Vietnam were able to talk to the assessment council under the form of Videoconference among three cities: Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr, Do Huu Hung – Head of the organization board of “Swallow 2009” – said: “ ‘Swallow 2009’ Award is a success because it has aroused the spirit for the community. We believe that groups and individuals participating in ‘Swallow 2009’, whether they have got a prize or not, will contribute to positive changes and a better living environment for everybody.”
1. Nguyen Cong Hung – “Nghị lực sống” (Mental Strength to Live) Center;
2. Trinh Cong Thanh – Hanoi “Green Dream” Group;
3. Khuc Hai Van – FHG, Ngo Thi Hong Nhung – “Belief” Group;
4. Vo Phi Hong – Consultant for the youth in Hue HIV/AIDS Prevention Project.
Each of the 5 prizes for excellent groups is 5 million VNDs, memory symbols and 20 million VNDs to sponsor voluntary charitable activities in 2009. The winners are:
1. Voluntary Student Team, Hanoi National Economics University;
2. Accompanying Scholarship Fund;
3. “Act Together” Fund;
4. “Nghị lực sống” (Mental Strength to Live) Center;
5. “Green Dreams” Center, Ho Chi Minh City.
In addition, the organization board also granted 2 prizes for potential groups with the present worth of 1 million VNDs for 2 newly-founded groups with high development potential, which were “CNN Shine” and “Sharing the life.”
Hoang Hoa Trung, the nominator for Ngo Thi Hong Nhung’s documents, won the nominator’s prize with the present worth of 1 million VNDs. oHoanH
40 representatives who had entered the final round also received certificates and memory symbols.
