The 10th FPT Spring Chess Tournament

On April 6th, 2008, the 10th FPT Spring Chess Tournament will officially open at FPT Building, Pham Hung Str., Hanoi. Participating in the Tournament will be competitors from FPT’s affiliates and other IT enterprises in the North. The Tournament events will be Swiss-chess and Chinese chess. This is an annual event held by FPT for nationwide IT workers, and is one of the many events held on the 20th anniversary of FPT Corporation.

The Spring Chess Tournament has been FPT’s annual tradition for the past 10 years, creating a common playground for mind games fans. The Tournament has received the attention of many in the industry and have become an annual event for IT workers in the North of Vietnam as well. Enterprise competitors include the Business Management Software Company (FAST), Hanoi Electricity Computer and Communication Center, Communication Company iNET, VTC Games, Hanoi Aptech, IT JSC RUN…

Mr. Truong Quy Hai, Chairman of the Organizing Committee- Chief of the FPT Corporation’s Union Secretariat, said: “In collaboration with other IT enterprises, FPT wishes to offer a playgroudn in terms of culture, sports, community support and development to strengthen mutual friendship and solidarity among IT employees. We wish to provide young people with a healthy and rich livelihood, in line with the slogan “Succeed together”.

In 2007, FPT sponsored and granted scholarships to young prominent Vietnamese chess players in continental and international championships. Notably, Le Huu Thai won a Bronze medal in the Asian Chess Tournament for Juniors in the United Arab Emirates .

On March 16th, 2008, in Tao Dan Sports Club, No.1 Huyen Tran Cong Chua Str, First Dist, Hochiminh City, FPT Southern Open Spring Chess kicked off. Apart from 9 FPT subsidiaries were 6 other Hochiminh City’s IT companies.
