The first GEW in Vietnam

HCMC, November10 – FPT Corporation joined The Youth Publishing House to announce the first Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) in Vietnam.

Hosted by FPT University and GEW Vietnam, the program will take part at the Youth Cultural Center on November 15 with the theme “Inspiring Ideas”. Held from 17-23 November 2008 with a series of activities, the event is the world’s largest one to celebrate and promote innovation, entrepreneurship and creativity, inspiring a new generation of young entrepreneur. The UK’s Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr A.G. Kent will join the opening ceremony and talk with visiting students.

Holding the event during one week every year, GEW will celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit in hopes of inspiring a new generation of young entrepreneurs. It will connect young people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators to addressing global issues such as poverty, climate change, public health, and gender equality.

Sponsors for GEW includes international companies and social organizations such as Make your Mark (UK), Kauffman Foundation (US), IBM, NYSE Euronext and Ernst & Young. The program has attracted participation of students and young people from more than 70 countries including Vietnam.

The Youth Publishing House (YPH) and FPT Corporation are the first to bring GEW’s spirit to Vietnam. The two have agreed to sponsor the opening ceremony with the title “Inspiring Ideas” for FPT University and some other universities on November 15 at the Youth Cultural Center.

“Encouraging the youth and and suggest new ideas for development are our goals. We share the same view with FPT on GEW. We and FPT all wish to create a bridge for Vietnamese youngsters to express themselves, to connect with other young people in the spirit of GEW”, said Dr Quach Thu Nguyet – Director of YPH.

Mr. Hoang Minh Chau – Deputy General Director of FPT Corporation shared: “To encourage and support students through specific actions has become the global norm. As veterans, we wish to share experiences and sponsor for them in their road to success. FPT supports the spirit of GEW. With the YPH, we wish to open a new door to the world for Vietnamese youngs”.

“Inspiring ideas” is a unique program with 6 categories: friend-making and team games, talks with guest speakers who are successful in business – culture – entertainment - education (talkaoke), book-reading-and-discussing cafe, game simulated businesses, ideas exhibition, and being-the-employer interview (waik-in interview).

Guest speakers will include MA Do Thanh Nam (Chairman of the Management Board, CEO of Win Win Consultation Company), Mr Hoang Minh Chau (FPT Corporation), Mr. Ly Truong Chien (Director of Tri Tri Corporation) etc.
