Great anniversary named "FPT faith - a quarter century"

FPT's 25th anniversary of establishment is considered the biggest event in 2013. It was scripted and invested early in the year. The Corp launched a series of activities relating to business, reward and record with great prizes to encourage emulative spirit among member companies.

FPT organized many activities towards great anniversary named "FPT faith - a quarter century”.

In the morning of September 7, FPT’s 25th anniversary was held at The National Convention Center (Hanoi). At the event, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan represented Prime Minister’s Certificate of Merit to FPT. The memorial medal presentation to 25 special contributors to FPT’s construction and development and Don Quixote musical also contributed to creating a remarkable event.

Bui Quang Ngoc appointed as the new CEO of FPT Corporation

On July 31, FPT’s Board of Directors approved the resolution on appointing Mr. Bui Quang Ngoc, a Doctor of Database, FPT’s CEO. The assignment of the new CEO aims to separate the roles of Chairman of the Board and the CEO to comply with modern managerial standards and improve the company’s performance.

At present, Mr. Bui Quang Ngoc is promoting business activities and corporate governance under Balanced Score Card method.

The wave of globalization spread strongly throughout the Corp

FPT officially launched the globalization wave named "Global 1 Billion Challenge" at 2013 Strategic Conference on 7-8 November. The program took place at Flamingo Resort, Dai Lai, attended by more than 120 leaders of the Corporation and its member companies.

Chairman Truong Gia Binh said that globalization was the only way to regain the growth rate in the past . Determination to globalize was concretized by main orientations for 2014-2016. Accordingly, all units must earn revenue from foreign markets. Japan, U.S., Singapore, Myanmar and developing countries will be FPT’s core markets planned in the globalization strategy.

Besides promoting trusted software services, FPT will pioneer in providing application solutions on new technology platforms such as Social, Mobility, big data/Analytics and Cloud (SMAC) to the U.S., Japan and Singapore.

Technology activities flourish

In 2013, FPT held Technology Day and the ranking of technology staffs at group level for the first time. These will become annual activities to encourage technology personnel to be engaged in common activities of FPT.

FPT also launched a playground for students of technology universities in 2013. The robot programming contest named Mobile Robot Challenge created a buzz in the community. Through the competition, FPT also wished to look for excellent students to participate in FPT’s projects in the future.

FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh honored by Nikkei Asia

On May 22, Nikkei Inc., the leading media group in Japan, gave FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh the Nikkei Asia Prizes for his contribution to Regional Growth.

According to Nikkei, Binh not only founded and successfully led FPT to success but also contributing greater part to the development of the IT industry in Vietnam. He was among those who had established Vietnam Software Industry Association and founded a university that provides high quality IT engineers.

Issue the transparent compensation policy to each individual

The policy was issued in late July to help all employees know their incomes at the beginning of the year. This aims to encourage each individual to work effectively. Accordingly, FPT staffs themselves can calculate their incomes based on the plan completion.

Based on the new compensation policy, leaders of member companies conducted income conversion for employees on principles including staff classification to arrange scopes of work and levels and employee grouping by income for compensation system conversion.

Winning several large contracts

2013 witnessed many recording contracts with a value of up to hundreds of billions. The most prominent ones are “infrastructure of infrastructure” project package and globalization contracts. The USD10 million contract with the Ministry of Economy and Finance (Cambodia) signed by FPT IS is recognized the biggest globalization contract of FPT so far. This is the first contract FPT IS has deployed as a general contractor in a foreign market.

These helped encourage FPT’s determination to conquer more big international contracts.

The USD8 million contract between FPT Software and online satellite service provider from the U.S. is considered a large step in the company’s entry into this market as well as opens up many opportunities in the next year.

For domestic market, after two years to pursue, FPT IS also won several significant contracts on IT application with Quang Ninh province.

FPT University open FPT High School

FPT's training system has been extended to high school after success in university and college. In the first year, the school accepted 160 students to train under boarding model in the campus of FPT University at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, Hanoi.

Besides offering a training model similar to international high schools, FPT high school will train generations of students ready for international university programs and global career opportunities. Students of FPT high school will also be equipped with cultural and traditional background of Vietnam and respect for cultural differences in the world.

Winning important prizes

In 2013, FPT also won a pool of important prizes and confirmed its reputation inside and outside the country. Accordingly, the Corp won 3 gold medals and four awards in the 15th Gold Medal and Top 5 ICT Award.

After many years of research and perfection of its services, FPT Telecom was honored in Sao Khue Award 2013, winning 6 out of 9 "stars” of the Corp. The unit also won the Gold Medal for Internet unit voted by the HCMC Computer Association.

FPT, represented by FPT IS, became the only Vietnamese business to win the first prize under the category of e-commerce application for public services in eAsia Award. The award reaffirms position and experience of FPT IS in the field of e-Customs.

For the second consecutive year, FPT Software has been listed among Top 100 Global Service Providers 2013, which was jointly evaluated and declared by Global Services (India) and NeoGroup (the U.S.).

Opening buildings owned by FPT

In 2013, FPT inaugurated two large buildings including FPT Tan Thuan in HCMC (capacity of 2,000 people) and F - Ville of FPT Software at Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park in Hanoi.

Chairman Truong Gia Binh considered these buildings as millstones in the dream of a national high-tech park with a beautiful environment playing role as a center for science & technology and intellect of Vietnam.

FPT’s investment in infrastructure is promoted by the groundbreaking ceremonies of F - Town 2 at Hi-tech Park in District 9 (HCMC), F - Ville 2 at Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park and FPT complex with a capacity of 10,000 people in Da Nang.
