Vietnam’s youngest CCIE expert at FPT

Do Ngoc Huy, who works for the Centre for Information Systems under the FPT Information Systems Company (FPT-IS), has been awarded a CCIE Security certificate, the preeminent certificate issued globally by Cisco. According to Cisco’s website, Huy is the first Vietnamese born in the 1980s to obtain the certificate.

Only 10 per cent of examinees pass the exam for the CCIE Security certificate. Applicants must have at least 600 hours with net equipment and pay some US$16,000 for a training course lasting eight to 12 months. In 2002 Huy was also the first Vietnamese to be awarded the CCNA certificate, with 1000/1000 points, and a scholarship to study for the CCNP certificate.

Vietnam now has two CCIE certificate holders, with the other being awarded to Vu Anh Tu in 2003, who is currently deputy director of the Centre for Information Systems at FPT. FPT now has six staff, including expatriates, in possession of the certificate. It once again proves FPT’s ability as a leading company in information security and information systems services.

Mr Russell Skingley, senior consultant at FPT-IS, said: “Security in information systems these days becomes more and more essential in Vietnam and around the world, particularly when Vietnam becomes a member of the WTO. Vietnamese companies and organisations must have an internationally standardized information security system as they face fierce global competition. Having a second CCIE Security certificate holder help us a great deal in providing international standard solutions and services to our customers.”
