Waves of globalization in FPT
Operating in 14 countries with nearly 300 employees working in foreign countries and thousands of support staffs are FPT’s initial results in its journey to conquer the world.

In Vietnam, FPT is considered the first company to think of globalization. In 1998, at the conference to summarize 10 years of technology, Chairman Truong Gia Binh announced that the first phase ended, FPT moved to the second phase - Globalization. FPT came to a determination of globalization with software export as focus.
During the first globalization wave, FPT focused on software export. However, FPT almost had no important preparation for software export target. It sailed the sea with no brand, weak resources, limited relationships and little international experiences. All FPT got in the first sail are lessons.
The second wave of globalization started since 2006 amid favorable circumstance. Vietnam just joined the WTO and businesses benefited from the "three waves of democracy" including technology democratization, finance democratization and information democratization. FPT stock was officially listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Trading Center and become one of the joint-stock companies with the highest share price in Vietnam. FPT made enough preparations for competition with foreign companies.
Unlike the first globalization wave, FPT focused on not only software strategy but also projects and product deployment.
The second wave of globalization helped FPT get hundreds of millions of dollars and operate across 14 countries along with new business opportunities.
Currently, globalization has become a slogan and compulsory target of any member companies of FPT while the domestic market is becoming tightened.
The trend of globalization is inevitable despite many challenges as FPT grew strongly and the domestic market is so small for 15, 000 staff to work in. The Group is preparing for a new sail again.
