Japanese enterprises are entering a new phase of accelerated AI transformation. At Ha Long Sapphire Summit, FPT introduced a roadmap to help businesses move beyond AI pilots to enterprise-wide deployment, creating sustainable business value.
Collaborating to Reimagine Business with AI-led Reinvention
From July 1–3, FPT Corporation hosted the Ha Long Sapphire Summit, bringing together more than 300 executives from Japan’s leading enterprises. As AI continues to reshape business operations worldwide, the summit served as a platform for FPT and its Japanese partners to discuss emerging opportunities and challenges in AI transformation while showcasing technology platforms and collaboration models that enable AI to become a core operational capability and a sustainable competitive advantage.
In her opening remarks, Mdm. Chu Thi Thanh Ha, Chairwoman of FPT Software, FPT Corporation, said that “a whole new world” is taking shape—one in which AI is not only transforming the way businesses operate but also creating new opportunities for collaboration between people and technology.

Mdm. Chu Thi Thanh Ha, Chairwoman of FPT Software, FPT Corporation, delivers the opening remarks before more than 300 Japanese business leaders.
“No matter how fast technology evolves, trust, partnership, and a shared vision remain at the heart of every transformation journey. FPT is committed being a long-term strategic partner, continuously enhancing our quality, speed, and delivery capabilities at ever greater scale to accompany Japanese enterprises in the AI era,” Ms. Ha said.
After more than two decades in Japan, FPT has built a workforce of 5,000 employees across 18 offices and R&D centers nationwide, while leveraging a global network of 18,000 technology experts to deliver technology services and solutions to more than 450 customers in the Japanese market. The Corporation has also put into operation two AI Factories in Vietnam and Japan, both listed in the TOP500 supercomputers of the world, reaffirming its long-term commitment to supporting Japanese enterprises as they reinvent their businesses with AI at the core.
A Comprehensive AI Transformation Partner
According to Mr. Pham Minh Tuan, FPT Corporation Executive Vice President and FPT Software Chief Executive Officer, FPT Corporation, Japanese enterprises are simultaneously facing three structural challenges: a shortage of technology talent, increasing pressure to modernize long-standing IT systems, and growing cybersecurity risks. Today, nearly 60% of Japan’s IT systems have been in operation for more than 20 years, while the country is projected to face a shortage of 800,000 IT professionals by 2030.
These challenges require a more comprehensive approach—from modernizing legacy IT systems and embedding cybersecurity into the foundation, to adopting outcome-based service models and building an AI-enabled workforce capable of scaling enterprise transformation.

AI transformation offers Japanese enterprises a new path forward, but significant challenges remain. While 98% of Japanese enterprises have begun adopting AI, fewer than 25% have successfully deployed it at the organizational scale. The primary obstacle is not the technology itself, but the lack of a clear roadmap for scaling AI at the enterprise level. Most organizations remain stuck at the pilot stage due to unstandardized data, fragmented governance, and inconsistent operating models. As a result, AI should be approached not merely as an IT initiative, but as a comprehensive business transformation program.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phong, Chief AI Transformation Officer of FPT Corporation, emphasized that the biggest gap today is not enterprises’ ambition to adopt AI, but their ability to scale AI into an operational capability. According to Mr. Phong, organizations need a clear transformation roadmap to move AI from isolated pilot projects to enterprise-wide operations.

To ensure consistency and effectiveness in AI transformation, FPT introduced its three-layer AI transformation model.
The first layer is CASAN, a five-level AI-Native capability framework that assesses AI readiness and provides organizations with a structured transformation roadmap.
The second is FleziPT, an AI ecosystem that combines technology, people, and partners to enable enterprise-wide AI transformation across industries. The ecosystem also includes industry-tailored AI solutions spanning automotive, BFSI, oil and gas, retail, manufacturing, healthcare, and more.
The third layer is Digital Foundry™, which helps enterprises shift from fragmented, workload-based AI implementation to an outcome-driven operating model measured by business-focused metrics such as speed, quality, and service levels.
FleziPT also reflects FPT’s approach to AI transformation: rather than relying on standalone AI tools, enterprises need an integrated platform and a comprehensive roadmap to scale AI from pilot projects to enterprise-wide operations.
