8x guys unveil tips to soon become managers at Vietnam’s leading IT company

Last weekend, FPT Corporation in collaboration with VNUHCM-University of Information Technology organized "FPT Leader Talk" with the theme of "You Can Make It”. The event attracted nearly 800 participants.

At the event, 5 speakers including managers from key member companies and young technology experts shared career development experience at FPT Software just a few years after graduation.

"Many students worry that the career in computer hardware is not as attractive as the one in software. This is not true. There are many opportunities at FPT Software for all computer hardware students including system operation, security etc. It is careful work attitude, thinking and vision that make your difference. For example, when setting up a sales management system, you need to take safety and security for the store when the system is hacked into account. The solution will be certainly appreciated by both your manager and customer. You do not need to join too many projects when being a student. However, you must understand them so well. Dare to dream and make it come true," said Nguyen Hung Cuong, senior developer at FPT Software.

Responding to the questions “which programming language should be learnt to keep up the trend”, and “Should women develop their career in IT sector”, Phan Trung Kien - Technical Team Leader (Japanese market) said that besides your knowledge, you need to show off their soft skills. It is important that you demonstrate their ability to actively learn. According to him, currently there are many career opportunities for women such as BrSE. As women understand customers better and have ability to solve problems more flexibly.

According to Tran Nguyen Dang Khoa, Solution Architect of FPT Software, who got the programming certificate when being a student at high school, unveiled some learning tips, "Do not search for basic academic knowledge on Google. The reliance makes it easier to forget them. Do not only copy code. You can try the relevant code; refer to the discussion, even exchanges view with members in the technology community. Your predecessors knew how to turn knowledge into their own one and explain it to others.

As a solution architect in the field of new technologies such as Cloud array, IoT, Big Data, he talked about the keyword in the IT industry for years to come - SMAC. Currently, all customers of FPT Software in the SMAC segment are large corporations in all the continents. FPT Software owns everything related to SMAC. This will be a good opportunity for those who want to improve their skills to keep up with the world.

"When I started t o work for FPT Software, it was the good communication and grasp of consumer demand that helped me to be selected to participate in the project with an Australian customer in spite of my little experience. You do not need to have an excellent degree, being good at foreign languages is extremely important. For example, new graduates with intermediate level Japanese at FPT Software will be paid more,” said Do Hoang Nam, the technology team leader of projects in the US and Australia

"Whenever the managers ask "Can you do it", you should consider it as a new opportunity, not pressure. It is the spirit of active learning that helps new graduates make impression. Try to ask your managers because their experience is a “live google”,” said Dang Quang Khoa, production team manager in the English-speaking markets.

"FPT Leader Talk" at VNUHCM-University of Information Technology is the 18th event in a series of exchanges between FPT leaders, young managers and students across the country. It is expected that the 19^th program will be held in Hue on October 25.
